The point I wish got emphasized more is that the big winners from congestion pricing are *people who urgently need to drive*. Because they are ones that travel times really matter for. I always thought that instead of congestion pricing it should be called "free streets" - free from other cars.
this is incredible stuff. most state DOTs would spend tens of billions on highway expansions to try and see numbers like this (that wouldn’t even pan out anyway thanks to induced demand lol)

The Abundance movement often points to environmental groups as the obstacles to building. But who actually files the lawsuits blocking projects? It’s not environmental groups. It’s been lawyered-up HOAs protecting property values all along. Regulation by litigation is the problem.

If you have enough money to be shooting up with dead people you have too much money
“Rather than relying on an implant or a patient's own body fat to add volume to hips or augment breasts, alloClae — which can cost as much as $100,000 per procedure — uses donor fat from a cadaver as a first-of-its-kind body filler.”
Corporate types are clamoring for a new kind of plastic surgery — using dead people's fat
Corporate types are waiting weeks for — and spending big on — alloClae, which cuts out the recovery time typically associated with body enhancements.

I was teaching in austin during this race, and another teacher in my cohort was dear friends with Jessica Cisneros, the woman running against him.

Pro abortion, pro-medicare for all, immigration attorney for RAICES. And the dems backed her conservative opponent.
Nancy Pelosi gave $4,000 to incumbent Henry Cuellar in December 2021, in his Democratic primary rematch vs. progressive Jessica Cisneros. Dem leaders circled and backed him.

The next month, FBI raided Cuellar's home.

He won the primary in June by only 289 votes. He was indicted on bribery in 2024.
