It’s also plainly absurd that someone just happened to discover the true meaning of the common law that just evaded everyone else for 800 years in a few weeks of work. I don’t even know what to do with that.
the idea that a handful of conservative legal scholars have an understanding that should supersede a settlement affirmed my generations of american is astoundingly arrogant, and the idea that trump — or any president — can unilaterally overturn that settlement is just despotism

another evidence of the special "supercitizen" status accorded cops, that while ordinary civvies can only grumble "my job should pay for my fricking commute time" (which is arguably correct), police just go ahead & take that perk for themselves as if by right
I wonder how many of the cars parked around NYPD precincts (both department and personal vehicles) are really being used for police work, and how many are just sort of littered about for very occasional use in these various petty grifts nypost.com/2025/12/06/u...

End the interview.

Don’t have them on in the first place.

Don’t print lies in the newspaper.

It’s 2025. This isn’t hard.
Please read this thread.

The ‘I’m not familiar…’ line should not be accepted. It’s a lie. As Kevin suggests, cut them off.
In this segment, Senator Schmitt insists he knows nothing about a major scandal, goes on an extended rant filled with lies and smears, insults Stephanopolous and his show directly, and is generally a preening asshole.

Yet I’m sure they’ll welcome him back for more.

In Massachusetts and across the country, the Trump admin is turning the pursuit of the American Dream into an American Nightmare. This is wrong, this is immoral, and this is exactly why we must continue to fight back against Trump’s racist anti-immigrant agenda.

Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.

i'd pay $1,000 to any journalist to get barrett on record trying to explain, precisely, why the 14th amendment is "possibly illegitimate".
One more time: this is how Barrett described the 14th Amendment in a 2016 law journal article

Oof. This is the sort of misleading claims Trumpian conspiracy theorists used to foment questions about 2020, or discredit results in WI or MI by talking of "statistically unlikely" odds of Milwaukee or Detroit counts. (Built on a false claim of that 99% means "99% of precincts," which it doesn't.)

Whelp, the first shot has been successfully fired.

Time for Dems to fully gerrymander Blue states.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

They don’t even care about looking impartial or as if they’ve fairly applied the law. Conservative justices are repudiating the very logic they’ve used to reject racial gerrymandering.

Clownishly villainous.

Someone once succinctly summed up the common problem with a GOP legislator’s policy proposals - “he just doesn’t understand some people don’t have any f****ing money!”
But Hawley’s proposal has the same basic flaw as Cassidy’s “HSAs for All!” Idea: They assume that most people have several thousand dollars in cash lying around which can be put into a savings account (or paid up front) in order to get savings/tax benefits later on.

Heard the same; this is what I mean by inches from the finish line; scheduled for the final citizenship oath ceremony and now suddenly that date is cancelled and people don't know what will happen next.
Our office has clients caught up in this. Hearing from colleagues nationwide about people having their naturalization oath ceremonies canceled. Some of the affected people aren't even subject to the travel ban due to other acquired citizenship, but they are still being caught up.
