The dreaded Judeo-Bolshevist structural pharmacologist with too much free time in lab. Please at least glance at the literature before opining on biology. Opinions unfortunately my own. He/him

The guys who run Electric Intifada talk about this constantly btw, and you should listen to them because they're absolutely right. Literally just translating Israeli news will make you an anti-zionist if you don't have prior hangups about Israel lol. It is immediately clear what is up.

I know papers can't cite *all* the work in their field, but is it too much to ask that a Cell paper heavily using structural biology factchecks their introductory paragraphs to make sure they're not ignoring very similar work published and PDB deposited within the last year? 🧪

Anyway, the broad policy I would run on if I was a Democrat is an employment guarantee.

The federal government will employ ANYONE, full time, no questions asked, at the median national income.

You come in for an interview and an aptitude test, and then you get assigned to a job.

This site has the juice because you can see one of the biggest rappers of the 1990s just randomly bullying trans women and then have him get incoherently mad at you for telling him to get a life.

I think there's not gonna be a funnier moment for me on this site than getting Talib Kweli to post his own wiki page at me because I asked why he keeps crashing out on trans people
@queererthing.bsky.social Is there a reason you like to lie about Black men? My activist work is well documented. Show me yours. Let's compare.

There are women who are our colleagues who are learning they were being talked about by these freaks in real-time. There are students and postdocs who are finding out an active collaborator they don't have the power to remove from a project went to the island. What the fuck do we even do, man.

A key takeaway from all this has to be "You don't have to listen to Republicans anymore." They're either perpetrators of fascism or suckers who fell for it. If you have conservative views we can consider them again in 50 years or so

The US should triple the NIH budget.
“ABC11 spoke with Lori Lober, a study participant. Initially, she was given a grim prognosis, with median survival rate of less than 2 to 3% for five years. However, the trial at Duke Health gave her new hope. She has remained disease-free for 24 years.”

I could cry.
Duke Health researchers announces breakthrough in breast cancer vaccine trial
A small group of women with advanced breast cancer participated in a trial where they received a vaccine, and all are alive today.

Dems: Mamdani is too radical for our taste. Plus someone said he's antisemitic. And that name is scary to us! We need to keep him out.

Dems, 1 week later: Look lots of people have tattoos like that

Dems, 2 weeks later: Marjorie Taylor Greene, welcome to the Tent

She ran as a moderate. Maybe you think that’s good and maybe you think that’s bad. All I am arguing is that the endless takes about how Democrats should pivot to the center should explain why it didn’t work in this election (there are good reasons!) rather than pretending she didn’t.

The only way we will win a better world is not only leftism for America, but internationalism. “Researchers who have anything to do with China should have their careers ended” is a bipartisan position, and it can’t be anymore. If we live in a fragmented world, it will burn in our lifetime

Absolutely spitting - the shining jewel of the US biomedical academia is built on the backs of underpaid and overworked postdocs and grad workers fighting for increasingly few professorships

The ruling class is dumb and we let them take everything we make and live lives of disgusting opulence and cruelty

We need socialism immediately
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

naturally Krauss is in the email dump today, where he decides that because Feynman was a known sexual predator, he could be one too

Do not trust AI to answer biological questions (obviously)!

I was hoping to find an RG thread or similar to confirm what I assume is yes; instead, DDG gave me 2 contradictory answers to the same question posed two ways, both citing the same article that does not address the question! 🧪

Right, these are the two options: Either they tolerated Epstein's eugenics to get to the sex crimes or they tolerated his sex crimes to get to the eugenics
It seems like all of the rich and powerful people around him patronizingly tolerated the race science stuff (“he has such an inquisitive and childlike mind”) in order to get access to his harem of underage sex slaves
The Epstein stuff is always so amazing to me because it's like "yes he was a sex criminal but if you can get past that, he was also an avowed eugenicist"

if your ideology is based on the idea that it is justifiable to prey on the weak there isn't going to be a meaningful boundary you can draw between looting from the poor and sexually exploiting kids. i don't think every conservative is a pervert but that is the logical conclusion of their beliefs

You're goddamn right I'm gonna continue sounding like a whacked out conspiracy nutjob about Platner. People who wear a Nazi insignia for decades on end do not get the benefit of the doubt, no matter how rhetorically pretty they try to make themselves afterwards. Fuck him and his Nazi bullshit.
Breaking news: Local Nazi promises vague platitudes about healthcare after literally wearing his true beliefs on his chest for twenty years. Liberals line up to lap up his bullshit.
Today, I made a promise to the people of Maine: when it comes to fighting for your healthcare, I will always hold the line — and I will not blink.

While I mostly agree, I would say that Shapiro's *biggest* liability is that he clearly covered up one of his friends murdering his wife.
I posted during Mamdani's speech "This is the speech Josh Shapiro wishes he could give" but deleted it because we were in a moment of unity but Josh Shapiro's biggest liability is he's always been chasing the Presidency, Mamdani doesn't want to be the President of Socialism. He wants to be Mayor.
You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.
