The dreaded Judeo-Bolshevist structural pharmacologist with too much free time in lab. Please at least glance at the literature before opining on biology. Opinions unfortunately my own. He/him

The only way we will win a better world is not only leftism for America, but internationalism. “Researchers who have anything to do with China should have their careers ended” is a bipartisan position, and it can’t be anymore. If we live in a fragmented world, it will burn in our lifetime

Absolutely spitting - the shining jewel of the US biomedical academia is built on the backs of underpaid and overworked postdocs and grad workers fighting for increasingly few professorships

The ruling class is dumb and we let them take everything we make and live lives of disgusting opulence and cruelty

We need socialism immediately
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

naturally Krauss is in the email dump today, where he decides that because Feynman was a known sexual predator, he could be one too

Do not trust AI to answer biological questions (obviously)!

I was hoping to find an RG thread or similar to confirm what I assume is yes; instead, DDG gave me 2 contradictory answers to the same question posed two ways, both citing the same article that does not address the question! 🧪

Right, these are the two options: Either they tolerated Epstein's eugenics to get to the sex crimes or they tolerated his sex crimes to get to the eugenics
It seems like all of the rich and powerful people around him patronizingly tolerated the race science stuff (“he has such an inquisitive and childlike mind”) in order to get access to his harem of underage sex slaves
The Epstein stuff is always so amazing to me because it's like "yes he was a sex criminal but if you can get past that, he was also an avowed eugenicist"

if your ideology is based on the idea that it is justifiable to prey on the weak there isn't going to be a meaningful boundary you can draw between looting from the poor and sexually exploiting kids. i don't think every conservative is a pervert but that is the logical conclusion of their beliefs

You're goddamn right I'm gonna continue sounding like a whacked out conspiracy nutjob about Platner. People who wear a Nazi insignia for decades on end do not get the benefit of the doubt, no matter how rhetorically pretty they try to make themselves afterwards. Fuck him and his Nazi bullshit.
Breaking news: Local Nazi promises vague platitudes about healthcare after literally wearing his true beliefs on his chest for twenty years. Liberals line up to lap up his bullshit.
Today, I made a promise to the people of Maine: when it comes to fighting for your healthcare, I will always hold the line — and I will not blink.

While I mostly agree, I would say that Shapiro's *biggest* liability is that he clearly covered up one of his friends murdering his wife.
I posted during Mamdani's speech "This is the speech Josh Shapiro wishes he could give" but deleted it because we were in a moment of unity but Josh Shapiro's biggest liability is he's always been chasing the Presidency, Mamdani doesn't want to be the President of Socialism. He wants to be Mayor.
You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

I particularly hate the suggestion there's some sort of grand bargain in which trans rights are given up in exchange for _______.

No one is offering such a thing. No one would change their vote to Dems after that. The argument exists solely to justify throwing trans people under the bus.
the harris campaign said the “they/them” ad didn’t sway the election.

one of the trump campaign’s top strategists this week said trans rights isn’t in the top five issues for swing voters.

when will the press stop talking about us like we’re a liability and start looking itself in the mirror

This is not a line of argument you'll see about Russian academia in 2025. I won't weep for Russian academics, but it's worth observing which dissident academics are or aren't worth isolating for geopolitical ends.
Refusing to work with Israeli academics means refusing to work with one of the main sources of dissent within Israeli society. To be sure, their views are not uniform, but that is a reason to avoid broad based bans,

a *broad and effective* academic boycott validates their political dissent

giving them the ammunition to say "you genocide guys have completely ruined our international standing, in a way that directly impacts all of us" helps the political project

Millenials are buying too much avocado toast to afford housing, and here's why that's good:
let me be as clear about this as I can:

in terms of overall ability to acquire goods and services, the median American and median American family HAS NOT SEEN A STAGNATION IN OVERALL PURCHASING POWER.
sure man, there hasn't been a stagnation in purchasing power. people just don't feel like buying their first home until they're in their 40s
