So, thanks to @clancyny.bsky.social for this. @nytimes.com was on this quickly and got the facts out there fast.

Videos Appear to Contradict
Federal Accounts of Fatal Shooting

It's very unusual for NYT to publish a video analysis, esp. one contradicting a govt account, so quickly, within 6 hours. But NYT had two of their most capable analysts on it.

this is good example of how to write a credible headline and social post about the shooting in Minneapolis without amplifying
lies from the Trump administration. Facts not talking points and lies. Other news outlets and headline writers should take note.
Federal immigration officers shot and killed another person in Minneapolis on Saturday. Video from bystanders show he was wrestled to the ground by six federal officers before 10 shots rang out.

Over 10 shots can be heard in the video, but it’s unclear if more than one agent fired a weapon.

Prove this wrong, fellow Americans, please. MN can stand up, protect each other, witness & alert you.

But we alone can't control the feds. This is a USA issue.

Trump’s untrained Gestapo thugs murdered an ICU nurse in cold blood — a US citizen who worked at the VA & had no criminal record. He had a permit to carry & didn’t draw the gun. They simply murdered him.

They must be prosecuted. They must be accountable. The impunity must end.

In three years either ICE will be abolished or the USA will be a police state. Hard to see it ending any other way.

It’s -21°F (-29°C) in Minneapolis right now. Dangerously cold for people, especially those without shelter. MIWRC has opened their doors, but need funds to cover these extra operations. Please give if you can!

This is the first example I’ve seen of an American government using AI to meaningfully misrepresent actual events with the intent to deceive the public. We are at Stalinesque levels of propaganda.
