Solid, important read.

"The old man along the highway could be my father, your grandparent, your uncle or aunt—but that person is a neighbor to all of us. We must take ownership and accountability to lift each other up, or we all fall together."
Saturday afternoon I saw a figure stumbling along in the ditch. I stopped and offered a ride.

The 83-year-old man didn’t hesitate. He accepted immediately. Hunched over, carrying his folder, he lurched towards my car and nearly fell into the seat, exhausted.

America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Remember how all summer I had the chorus of white centrist pundits quoting my posts claiming I was fear mongering and a “doomer” for clearly stating my analysis that this kind of thing was going to become normalized and that rule of law wouldn’t matter in this situation as law is a construct.

There has long been enough evidence to indict and the slow release is intended to 1) further torment Epstein victims 2) get Americans used to child rape by elites 3) flaunt impunity, since there have been no meaningful consequences for perpetrators 4) arrive right when AI casts everything in doubt.

People keep mistaking genuine horror for politicking.

The people who supported the DOJ under Biden/Trump condone child rape. They defended officials who protected child rapists.

Other people saw this as a clear moral horror and condemned the DOJ. That's the actual divide. It's not between parties.

Cutting property taxes for Oregonians affected by wildfires. Canceling planned freeway tolls. Pausing local new taxes in the Portland area. We have to keep going to make life more affordable for Oregonians.

This struck me too. As Anne Applebaum doesn’t mention, she wrote a classic history of the Gulag.
The CBS investigation portrays a modern concentration camp, similar to the Soviet GULAG (like CECOT, an acronym): sadistic guards, 24 hour lighting, isolation cells.
Americans once opposed this inhumane system.
The Trump administration sent innocent people there to suffer.
