All of his teams seem extra competent, his social media, even his graphic design. Guy just seems to run a solid organization of people who know what they’re doing. Sounds like an effective leader to me
This man's media team is a bunch of goddamned geniuses, someone scouted for locations and figured out they could set up this very shot. Look at it, it's incredible. Look up pics of Adams being sworn in at the ball drop, which look chaotic, cheap, and undignified in comparison.

Derek has an excellent point here
an easy way to understand this is that people make clothes cool and not the other way around. so our judgement of what looks "good" is often shaped by the cultural capital of various social groups. punks, skaters, hip hop heads, etc look stylish simply bc they are cool. thus money is not a barrier.

Noah sums up quite accurately and succinctly the primary draw of Trump to so many American “Christians” - they just want domination over non-whites and non-Christians. This allows them to ignore the other ways in which he makes a mockery of any other “Christian values”
this is true for trump too. like, Trump doesn't believe in any god but himself, probably, but christian nationalists love him because he subscribes fervently and sincerely to their most important belief; ie that Christian white men should rule.

Another disappointment. Hadn’t read or heard about him in a while. Sad to see he’s another one who turned out to be truly awful
I somehow missed that Dan Savage was on Bluesky now. If you missed the memo, consider this your reminder that Dan Savage is a racist transphobe who has allied himself with Jesse Singal (!) and written racist screeds attacking Black people while dismissing the racism of white gays.

I mean, this was already the kind of general standard that the media holds racists to. Just making it literally official I guess
I wrote about how the Trump administration won’t let Black people use MATH to prove racism exists.
Apparently, only white self-reporting their own racism now counts as evidence of racism.
The DOJ Just Made It Almost Impossible to Prove Racism Exists
By rolling back “disparate impact" claims, the Trump administration is reducing courts to mere rubber stamps for the white supremacy written into the laws.

The role of student or informed citizen doesn’t directly feed into or grow the power of those in power the way being a consumer does
The theme of my entire teaching approach is: A sociological imagination is a useful tool for citizenship.

The concept of citizenship drives my notion of a liberal education. I hate the corporatized academy, because we have reduced every other status--student, citizen--to that of consumer.
It /is/ a problem that the right has articulated a reactionary vision for the humanities and the left has pushed ROI analysis to boost tech and marketing degrees.

I’m more cynical than Tim but I gotta hand it to him: “[politics is] not just triangulating between rich donors and the people you serve.” Is just a fantastic statement. Deeply insightful
Being called naive for not abandoning the premise of justice is both bone stupid and inherently vibe destroying. You can create a new political reality by creating a movement. This is actually what politics is! It's not just triangulating between rich donors and the people you serve.

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

Wtf? The lazy walking ethical cesspool garbage writer is widely supported while women are being demeaned and insulted regularly by Trump and DC press corps doesn’t support them.
If you go look at her twitter, nuzzi was (is??) supported by A LOT in the DC press corps
We need to have serious conversations about 1/ nuzzi was never, ever a “genius” or “unusually talented writer”, 2/ the DC press corps is highly problematic

Tons of money is a helluva drug my guy. They will have no problem whatsoever
Just pure, unhinged anti-Muslim bigotry, racism, and hate against Somalis, Afghans, and immigrants of color from the White House and mainstream GOP.

Curious to see how the establishment can continue condoning this as doing politics "the right way."

Noah just out here casually tossing off incredibly dense kernels of real wisdom for free while fools and ghouls are paid obscenely to sell you (and themselves) just total garbage
you can be incredibly inefficient and kill lots of people because killing people is easy; it's keeping them alive that is the difficult logistical problem.

Don’t disagree with calling them traitors, but the founders, while allergic to Christian govt, absolutely wanted a nation governed by a small, rich, and definitely white elite.
I think it's time we start declaring the Trump Administration and their Reeks traitors.

They're traitors to the Constitution.

Their desire to create a white Christian nationalist state is against the founding fathers and the law.

They're the "foreign threat" to America, not immigrants.

Have to agree with Ali here. It seems that the Democratic Party and its leadership are bought and paid for by corporate donors, and do exclusively the bidding of those donors despite the fact that actual Dem voters want wildly different policies
Hakeem Jeffries will never lead the Dems where they need to go in order to help the people.

He will choose restoration over reform because he has been groomed by the Establishment.

I wish people could finally accept this.

If you want good, insightful (incisive even!) commentary on masculinity, Noah is a great place to start. Pithy and Illuminating, with references to specialists who can give you even more. Can’t recommend him enough

(He’s very good on other subjects too)
scott galloway isn't as bad as jordan peterson or donald trump. but the fact that people think he's what passes for a good faith and thoughtful commentary on masculinity is bleak.

Hegseth has already shown a total disregard for preserving important official communications the proper way. Who seriously thinks he’s properly preserved this info, or would willingly (or let himself be compelled to) provide it
Hegseth's failure to deny he ordered Adm. Bradley to kill all of them makes one wonder if that order isn't memorialized in a document. In any case all relevant documents, orders, memos, records of meetings, and videos should be provided to Congress. Along with sworn testimony from all involved.

The “criminal enterprise” is Capitalism. People aren’t ready to realize that, but it is the essence of the truth of our experience
We will have to come up with a new constitutional framework to deal with the reality of the fact that the United States government was taken over by a criminal enterprise.

Seems to me that the so-called “War on Terror” broadened and muddied the kinds of people you could be officially “at War” with. I think that designation should really be limited to nation-states, and rest constitutionally with only the Congress, but I don’t think that’s where we are anymore
This is all true but

1) under no definition are we currently at war with Venezuela under domestic US law

2) since we aren’t, the initial strike was just as much a murder as the follow up

The failure to understand this by a huge range of actors is really driving me up the wall.
If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

No United States citizen will ever be held accountable at The Hague. Putting aside how much it might be justified, it will just absolutely never happen.
Not sure who needs to hear this but a US President can not pardon someone being charged for war crimes at The Hague.

Very pithy formulation here. Almost no real wealth is built in a way which respects rules and does not viciously exploit others
The thing about working hard and playing by the rules is that those are not ways you get rich. You get rich first by skirting the rules as much as you can get away with and then paying people to rewrite the rules to your benefit
November 30, 2025 at 11:48 PM
This is absolutely the best description of secretary Hegseth’s pathology as I have ever seen
also we cannot forget the more ideological reasons (a vision of masculinity that cannot be fulfilled unless it can do war crimes).
