cartoonishly evil, completely corrupt and bumbling incompetence are, like, *the* defining traits *and trifecta* of this entire stupid era
"It is logically impossible to simultaneously be evil, corrupt, and incompetent" is an absolutely amazing take to have in the year of 2025

This is such an insane proposal. Beyond obviously being a net negative for students capacity to learn, mental health, safety, etc, etc, AI companies are run by, and partnered with, people and organizations who want to destroy public schools and replace your union members with machines.
We know students, like the rest of the world, are using AI. Teachers need to be equipped to deal w/all the issues AI creates. Our approach starts with maximizing safety & privacy and empowering educators to make educational decisions, so AI tools can benefit not harm www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-ne...
AI has become the norm for students. Teachers are playing catch-up.
At a New York City training session, educators explored how artificial intelligence could support teaching while also discussing their concerns around the technology.

So in the UK, they'll arrest you for supporting Palestine, and now we find they'll also arrest you for supporting those who support Palestine.

If you hold a Free Greta sign, will they arrest you for supporting someone who supports those who support Palestine?

British Matryoshka doll-ass fascism.
Greta Thunberg has been arrested on terrorism charges for speaking out in support of the Palestine Action hunger strikers.

FUCK this British government.

Somehow (probably burnout) it never occurred to me until just now that this is just tech fascist dual power except instead of organizing to create institutions of counter power they just set up corporations and buy shit

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
What’s happening with American media, American education, and America’s approach to places like Greenland & Honduras harmonizes with the “network state” movement (backed by Thiel, Lonsdale, Andreessen, etc), which calls for the construction of “parallel institutions” and “parallel societies”. 1/
IMHO, you can’t understand what’s happening to the US if u don’t know about the “network state” movement & its “parallel establishment” strategy, which includes building “parallel societies” (w/ their own physical territories) & “parallel institutions” in media, education, finance, science, etc. 1/

Asking this seriously: has Bari Weiss ever in her career reported out an investigative story?

A bit of a detour, but this made me think about what endlessly fascinates me about Weiss and people like her is how they take conservative positions on most things and yet refuse to describe themselves as conservatives— out of what I suspect is mainly classism
The most impressive thing about Bari is her ability to violate ethical principles while indignantly claiming to defend them.
Weiss concluded: “We need to be able to make every effort to get the principals on the record and on camera. To me, our viewers come first, not a listing schedule or anything else. And that is my North Star, and I hope it's the North Star of every person in this newsroom.”

I still say these companies are sticking their heads in bear traps every time they promote AI as some sort of health product. "Consumer dies after following bad AI health advice" gets much more actionable when a company says "our product is designed to give you health advice."

In 2022, Bari Weiss ran this viral first-person piece by a top Levi’s executive. She claimed she was hounded out of the company because of her vocal stance on COVID restrictions.

There are no quotes from the company. Or her colleagues.

Not even a “no comment.”
