This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

They don't want you to know this but it's actually because the Great Snake of Gichi-Gami choked on the Edmund Fitzgerald and died
In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Ah, the annual extortion drive
One thing councillors can count on is an annual pre-budget visit from the police chief predicting chaos without vast amounts of new spending. Meanwhile, services that prevent crime are cut to pay for the police budget, social neglect goes up, and rinse and repeat.
Glad to see this @livewirecalgary.bsky.social op-ed naming last week’s pre-budget intimidation campaign by Calgary police for what it was.

Soon in my inbox: Hello, it's the Democrats! We have decided to capitulate and cooperate with the fascists. Please donate between 5 and 50 dollars so that we can hire a marketing firm to help Republican politicians like us better. If you don't give, we won't be able to let them strip your rights!

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

i think the main thing a lot of you “the economy is better than it’s ever been” types are failing to grasp is that it really—and i mean REALLY—makes it look like you don’t give a shit about poor people.

If Shady Vance admits they're not going to listen to any Judges then does that mean American Citizens don't need to listen to Judges either?

This administration needs to arrested starting with Shady and Pedo Trump. They openly admit they're not listening to Judges.

You know you've been conditioned to live in a black & white paradigm when you have no ability to distinguish between

-Marxism
-Communism
-Socialism
-Democratic Socialism

If all those words scream in your brain BAD, but you can't describe their differences, you've been conditioned to feel this way

This is the facility that I and many others have been protesting. We’ve been hit, thrown, gassed, and shot with pepper bullets but none of that holds a candle to what is being done to people *in* the actual facility.

Read this thread. Don’t look away. Keep your eyes and the pressure on Broadview.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

This part

Wired has been doing amazing work.

And it also did awful collusion arg PR crap that it never followed up on when Teen Vogue was in the trenches
I don’t think this is fair to all these journalists. Compared to Teen Vogue, Wired invested in adversarial politics reporting relatively recently (and are great at it!). When Wintour was telling TV they don’t want to hear about politics, in 2021? That was the canary. bsky.app/profile/meli...
“In January 2021 after the politics section had broken our traffic records with coverage of the COVID pandemic, George Floyd protests, election, and Capitol insurrection, Anna Wintour asked [news and politics editor] Lucy Diavolo if we still needed a politics section. After all, Joe Biden had won.”
