It cannot be stressed enough how bad the optics of this are for openAI in the middle of a conversation where the prominent criticism of them is that they feel entitled to steal content without compensating creators. She would be a hero to her profession if she filed a “teachable moment” lawsuit.

Made this point before but I think millennials and older really underrate the extent to which younger conservatives experienced the (quite successful!) 2010s school anti-bullying campaigns as a radicalizing and defining event for their politics.

Basically I view Alito as someone who happens to be religious but would have deep down been a bigot no matter what, and his particular set of "beliefs" (that are more American and self-constructed) help him in his insecure bigotry.

I fully believe Alito would have this same stance if it were the mid-60s and the issue was interracial marriage. Plenty of wrong church doctrine about that (then again it's all from a made up book about a made up man in the sky)

the best part is that there will also be a loud contingent of trump now, trump tomorrow, trump forever voters, *often in the same district*, and republican candidates are going to have to try to learn to thread two delicate needles simultaneously
From an ego-protection standpoint I think there are a lot of R voters who, if Trump looks like a loser, will happily and seamlessly change from “voted for him three times to save the country” to “never liked him much, voted for him twice bc the Dem was even worse but he lost me at the end”
