I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

I realize the main plot of American Canto is how a journalist detonated her career in service of an infatuation but the actual consequence of those decisions will be felt in babies that die from Hepatitis because RFK Jr wants them to die & is refusing to use the state to mandate lifesaving medicine.

My personal take on this is that, while some of the difference can be attributed to libido, the majority of it is that men do not internalize sex as dangerous to themselves. “is this safe for me” never crosses their minds.
