i strongly, strongly believe that good writing is downstream of clear thinking and a strong understanding of the subject matter at hand. without fail, tortured writing comes from writers who don’t know and can’t think clearly about anything.
Oh man! This paragraph is brutal. The best thing about this review is it's not trying to be mean. It's just listing how bad the writing is.

The one upside of generative AI is that it made me value human-made art more. Art that didn't really impress me before feels way more meaningful now. Thanks slop, you made me appreciate human creativity more than ever.

Fired up the Mad Max videogame and there's a very early bit where there's turning sideways to squeeze through a narrow gap and obviously I think "oh! Triple A!" sloooow squeeze but instead he just slips through with scarcely a pause. At some point after 2015 we have lost this technology.

We have created a device that shall be integral to your life, to the point where it will be hard to function in society without one; we would prefer these devices to break annually and for you to purchase a new one at full price. If you don't, that's called hoarding. They're a thousand dollars each.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

Wow 80% bad-faith responses, and people lecturing the creator of Flask here and the creator of Django/datasette in the comments on why AI is useless for software engineering...
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

Ran a second one-shot of @goblinarchives.itch.io 's Liminal Horror TTRPG last night ("The Chair" from the Case Files material) and had a blast again.

Got to thinking about why the game tickles me so much, and realized it's in large part due to it approaching cosmic horror not as... 1/

It winds me up because, like so many tech trends of the last decade, in lieu of making something useful, companies are making labyrinths to exploit human weakness.

We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

Thought related to the Nuzzi discourse: hindsight's 20/20 and all, and the election worked out anyway, but I wonder if Mamdani's team realized they could have had an easier time of it if he'd just thought to seduce a NYT reporter.
