The hypocrisy is stunning.

Good piece here. Similar thoughts in ways to what @harrisalexc.bsky.social reported on earlier in hurricane season. AI/ML in weather forecasting is not the AI slop that’s taking over everything else. These tools under care of a human will play big and important roles in science going forward.

Really appreciate the person who responded to this by scolding me that books belong in a library not a home, whose post was up for about 30 seconds before they (apparently?) thought better of it and deleted it. I donate tons of books every year to my library. But I keep some...
I am a strong believer that every household bookshelf should have a Tom Stoppard section. RIP.

Sorry, but you don’t get to drone strike vessels and double tap the survivors in international waters and then pretend you care about military law.
The Pentagon announced Monday it is investigating Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona over possible breaches of military law after the former Navy pilot joined a handful of other lawmakers in a video that called for troops to defy "illegal orders."

This is essentially Vinay Prasad, who has an MD, declaring his intent to use the government to torture children to dead via preventable disease by knowingly withholding the cure.

To call this despicable is an understatement.
Vinay Prasad of the FDA claims that he has proof that 10 children died from COVID19 vaccines, so the FDA will now target flu shots, look at whether people should receive multiple vaccines at the same time, and make the vaccine approval process significantly more difficult.

This whole thing is racist, but take particular note of the threat of denaturalization. That's stripping people of their citizenship, and that's the road to mass murder and atrocity.
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

Four of Trump's five children have an immigrant mother, and the one who doesn't is married to the son of two immigrants.
Trump makes the outrageous claim that “most” immigrants, which include over 25 million U.S. citizens, “are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.”

As insulting as the “deplorables” comment, and on Thanksgiving day no less.

A reminder that almost all of the "migration crisis" of the last 18 months is a manufactured one – and probably says more about how much X has poisoned our politics than anything about realities on the ground.
NEW: Net migration falls sharply to 204,000 in the year to June.

That’s a fall from 649,000 in the year to June 2024. It is a drop of nearly 80% from its 2023 peak.
