We have the ability to prevent diseases that only a few short generations ago were rightfully feared and ruined so many lives. Now that's being destroyed by a lunatic right-wing death cult.

Being anti-vaccine is a form of child abuse. Death from a vaccine-preventable illness is negligent homicide.
The share of counties where 95% or more of kindergartners were vaccinated against measles has dropped from 50% before the pandemic to 28%, according to our analysis of public records from 44 states and the District of Columbia. At least 19,000 schools are now more vulnerable to outbreaks.

If you own a computer it should be illegal for a company to not let you easily install your own software. This includes crap like tvs and refrigerators. Let me put Debian on my dishwasher.

The reason I want to ask what the pain points for Linux are is because a lot of this stuff is thought about passively, with FOSS brain, or shrugged off entirely. But if you want to really kill Windows, which most people seem to want, a full accounting of what’s in the way is needed.

Adobe is the perfect example of the aspirational trajectory of tech projects: an extremely-impressive technology that was the gold standard for years, turned into an exasperating rent-seeking industry obligation with terrible UX.

Another random science thread: did you know plate tectonics isn't the only planetary tectonic regime capable of sustaining life?

In fact, life appeared on Earth about a billion years before plate tectonics began!

So, what was it doing before? Well, the predominant theory is this: Drip-and-Plume!
