The BBC has a long record of doctoring footage. But consequences only seem to follow when the Right are maligned.
1984: BBC reverses order of footage of Battle of Orgreave, portraying miners as aggressors. No apology.
2017: Newsnight edits interviews with Corbyn. No apology; Kuenssberg promoted.

The BBC some people believe exists is dead and has been dead for at least 20 years.
You can call for radical change, gutting it entirely of the wreckers and completely restructuring its relationship with government.
Sure.
But no one who has the power for that has appetite for the change needed.

I’m old enough to remember when the BBC used old footage of Johnson at the cenotaph, to cover the fact that he was hung over and looked like a burst mattress on a tip.
The DG didn’t resign though

I am of the firm opinion that “gender-critical” transphobia is fascism. And not just “fascism adjacent” or “fascist enabling” but fascism front & centre.
Owning slaves, invading other peoples’ countries and starving people to death are not “contentious”, they are fascism.

This is especially true for medical care. Virtually any - any - type of cancer was a death sentence. The 5y survival rate for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 1960 was roughly 14%. Today it is roughly 95%.
It is genuinely hard for most people to grasp how poor the past was.

i wonder if the ’gender critical’ folks who run around screaming ‘no im a moderate terf!, im a moderate terf!, im a lefty!’ are ever going to acknowledge that they’ve been played by the far right.
as for @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social: she has overseen the destruction of new labour’s equality act.

This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.
This will be used to abuse.
