Perform empathy. Please. Perform the fuck out of it. It's so good to act with kindness. I hope it penetrates to a place where you feel it, too, but if you must act some way, act the right way. I'm not here to judge your authenticity, I just want you to be kind, thoughtful, and mortified by meanness.

Had to clamber over a barbed wire fence, rip my coat and trespass to get a photo of this folkloric monster pretending half-successfully to be a tree. I have no regrets.

We need to teach necropolitics in grade school social studies.

Expanding the list of people who can be "un-personed" by the state. The legal framework by which a human being is reduced to Homo Sacer -- "bare life", a biological entity that can be killed without it being considered a crime.

Amid exhaustion, illness, poverty and trauma we've still done important work. Please help us keep doing it.

do cis people understand why they're fixated on us like this? it's not just because we're easy targets. there are two answers to the deep seated gender anxiety that exists around the world. one is to jump out of the plane: to leave our chains behind and build a world where it means whatever we want.

Remember that in the winter of 2020-2021, we *made a whole strain of influenza extinct* by staying home more and wearing masks when we went out.
A lot of people are sick right now.

Flu and Covid are raging, but the good news is a well fitted respirator can prevent both!

A good mask like an N95 is very effective at stopping flu and Covid.

My article looks at how to choose one, how to fit test, where to buy & more.

Mask up & save lives!
We’re Witnessing the Fall of Public Health… and Your Best Tool is a Mask
Measles in Texas, bird flu in Louisiana, tuberculosis in Kansas and Covid everywhere. Public health has been dying a slow death for years, we can’t count on it anymore. What can we count on? A mask!

On Monday, ICE agents violently restrained a woman in Minneapolis, dragging her in the snow and pinning her face down as onlookers shouted the woman was pregnant.

In response, one agent fired a taser into the crowd. “Who wants more?” he taunted, according to a WCCO reporter. trib.al/vdWc3qj

Reminder: you should absolutely start wearing the best mask you can find in public spaces, even if you stopped before. We have no public health at the top level & repeat infections have ravaged immune systems.

If someone gives you a hassle, say "even if it's just a cold, I DON'T WANT THAT EITHER!"

Got to finally see GDT's Frankenstein. As expected, knocked my socks off; loved the tenderness, loved the juxtaposition of whimsy to gore, and loved the deep sincerity of craftsmanship. Mixed feelings on the wolf interlude, though. Justice for wolf representation in media, imho.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".
