I realise that Benoit Blanc was created for film, and he works perfectly in that context. But he reads so like a character adapted from a Golden Age detective novel that every film makes me feel sad there isn't a series of Benoit Blanc novels for us to read as well.

I went to church for the first time in a few weeks. I quite liked seeing the symbols of Advent: blue banners, a nativity scene, and the Advent wreath.

This year, we decided to do a Chrismon tree instead of our normal Christmas tree. It's quite nice.

A (quite) young movie lover said to me recently, "Not everybody can afford a DVD player," and I said "How much do you think a DVD player costs?"

He said, "I don't know, like $500?"

Those of us who advocate physical media are maybe not doing the best job of messaging.

Rowling is evil, not crazy.
Speaking as a crazy person, she doesn't get that excuse. She's bigoted & miseducated with validation from her communities, not psychotic.

When a few Canada Post employees in Vancouver started answering letters to Santa in the early-1970s, it eventually led to the most famous postal code in Canada.
H0H 0H0.
Each year, thousands of letters to Santa from around the world are answered.
This is the story.

Why doesn't God do something about all the pain all around us?

It's us. We're the miracle.

You'll hear me say it over and over: We are God's Plan to change the world. We're God's body here on earth.

Just once id like to see a movie where a character shows they're spiraling by NOT taking their meds and and then signifying their life is getting better by taking them again, rather than the other way around

You know, like how it mostly happens in real life 🙄

some significant part of this is just catch-all fear for “this is not the child I ordered” I think
Oh, here's a big surprise. The transphobes don't believe in ADHD either.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

I could change USPS to Canada Post and the United states to Canada and federal agency to Crown corporation and the sentence is still 100% true
USPS subsidizes a *lot* of shipping in the united states and characterizing it in terms of profit and loss is fundamentally a bad faith exercise given how many of it’s benefits are truly universal in a way that not all federal agencies are

Religion note: Remember that pastor who was arrested protesting an ICE detention facility outside Chicago recently? The one who was photographed on the ground as officers arrested him?

That's Rev. Michael Woolf, and this is his church.
