The whole "the curtain is blue!" discourse has convinced half the population that artists have no themes or questions their work explores. People, this is not an English teacher conspiracy. Artists do include symbolism and subtext!

For those of us who are disabled or prohibited from protesting for any reason, here are ways we can help.

I can’t take a service dog to a protest, it’s unsafe for him but also for others around us.

I can do some of these.
Here are some tips for ways to “show up” when you aren’t able to show up in person, as well as suggestions for all of us for building more inclusive movements for social justice and human rights.

I have no idea why people continue to make this asinine argument. There are numerous reasons why the Gaza genocide receives more moral outrage than other atrocities. And even if you ignore them, "there are other genocides too" is not a legitimate criticism of the people trying to stop it!

"defund the police" was so obviously correct. I really don't care if it doesn't poll well. it's like telling me that I should stop saying I like vaccines if they stopped polling well.

The idea that this political violence is the consequence of people on both sides cheering it on seems like a sympathetic point but just doesn’t hold up to history. In my adult life, I’ve seen people on the right do everything from kill politicians to kill regular citizens, and it’s shrugged off.

They launched a coup, suffered no consequences for it, won back power, and have used the power to pardon everyone involved while remaking the country through violence and intimidation. It’s just ridiculous to talk about the political violence of yelling at ICE agents within that context.

Best readers only. Other readers need not apply.
I dunno if it is woke or anti-woke, but this trend in art is annoying as hell. You cannot write worrying about your worst, stupidest reader without annoying all of your best readers.
I genuinely think this particular aesthetic trend (Good Art Is Didactic And Also Assumes You Are Very Stupid) is a non-trivial source of anti-woke backlash, like unironically. It is really really annoying, and I think it has provided wedges by which anti-wokes can radicalise nerds.

There is the pretext for anti-immigrant activity (illegal aliens are taking your jobs!), and there is the text (foreigners with bad values are invading America!), but it is important not to forget the subtext: It is in the interest of capital to make sure we do not build international solidarity.

conservatives are so boring which is why I usually just block them.

but I do think it’s important to point out how stupid the conservative male strategy with talking to leftist women really is. it’s boring guys we aren’t attracted to telling us we’re unattractive… that’s SO stupid lol

Trans woman: I absolutely refuse to be a man or participate in manhood.

Transmisogynist: You have rejected manhood and will face the consequences, you are now less than human

Weirdo liberal: The thing that happened to the poor transgender biological male here is an example of misandry.

It’s an incredible collection of essays.

The third essay was especially essential for me understanding the psychology and outlook of GC women in particular.

A lot of the queer discourse is explained by the fact that transfemininity is hypervisibile to the point of being considered a marker of the wider queer community's aesthetic, but trans women themselves are entirely de-centered.

I should get paid $600k/yr to tell politicians they'd probably benefit from paying attention to issues their voters care about
NEW: A Harris campaign organizer says senior officials ordered them to erase voters who asked about Gaza—marking emails as “no response” so they’d be removed from outreach. No engagement, no persuasion, just ignored. “The only clowns are the ones who decided to abdicate on this.”

there is a demand for literature by trans people. it is real and I am fucking SICK of this idea that we're all subjects in the stories of someone else. we are, too, the creators and we are together.
Holy shit that's ten thousand people. Like. Ten thousand individual human beings.

We have enough validity right now, but what cis folks CAN actually do:
- Contribute to GFMs for trans care and travel (we are a very impoverished demographic!)
- Help a trans person get a job
- Help a trans person move
- Vocally oppose anti-trans legislation (yell at reps, not random bigots online!
I skeet that I’m annoyed that everything trans people warned you about is coming true and I get a dozen random cis people going “uwu you’re a real boy” in my replies and thinking that’s their activism done for the day

Librarians aren't going to save us. Librarians aren't superheroes.

They're just people trying to keep largely underfunded and overwhelmed public services going.

Praise is nice; realistic expectations are better; material support is best.
