AI is NOT inevitable. Keep not using it. Uninstall Copilot from your computer. Refuse to use programs bogged down with it. Complain loudly about it when they shove it into the programs you use. We can starve the slop machines.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

I just don't need to know what the Telegraph has written about Dungeons & Dragons. It's a newspaper for people who are frightened of samosas.

I remember Dawning Realization Month for the NFT people too. Think this is going to take much longer because of how wrapped up the whole economy is in this, but it really feels like it's happening.
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

This is me being pontkessly contrarian but re AI usage and management I feel like it's less that management is a fake job and more that being in position of power enables one to be increasingly worse at their job in increasingly visible ways without any personal consequences

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

This is why folks call it a tool of fascism. It generates fear and distrust, which benefits fascist liars.
one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!

Introduce yourself with 5 concerts you've attended

-The Rolling Stones (with No Doubt opening, in ~2002 when they were all peak)
-SARSFest Toronto
-A couple of extremely local went-nowhere bands

I'm not much of a live music pal, and then I moved to a place that doesn't do concerts, just kitchens.😅

Weird Al
Pomplamoose

And uh i bought tickets to a 30 seconds to mars show but sold them last minute because i wanted to ‘minecraft n chill’ with michael more than a concert, which explains why ive only ever been to two concerts tbh

Anyway reminder that Internet Bros still don't understand why so many women are watching Reacher. LOLOL

bsky.app/profile/most...
While Reacher is obviously Big Man Is Big, having binged the show & discussed it with others, I don't think the folks saying this are ready for the fact that people love Reacher because he would casually throw an abusive shithead misogynist out of a moving car while respecting his female coworkers.
This isn’t the female gaze. This is the male gaze. It’s men who are obsessed with the physicality of other men. Women, in the main, would much rather see a man who looks like he’d make himself a stack of buttered toast and let you steal a slice

Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.
