As a dude who is irrationally obsessed with Kowloon City, it was amazing to see this real life sequel. This was a really great and informative watch:

Wow, to think I was once so young i was excited to read John Byrne comics.

Even wilder, these books got the sauce! Byrne’s arrogant “here’s a stick of gum, lemme show you how to chew it” approach means he’s gonna show you what a good Phantom Stranger story is…and it’s gonna be entertaining!

This is the big one for me. If you absolutely cannot afford the book, GO TO THE LIBRARY. You still get it for free, but in a way that still *matters* to publishers. The libraries are one of the few socialist projects we still have. USE THEM.
And the thing is, man, libraries exist.

Any random Jaime Hernandez page is a masterclass in composition and comics storytelling. I don't know that he's ever drawn a just-okay panel, ever.

Ok, the Nuzzi thing is...actually pretty important?

It codifies a lot of how our media has worked for the last few decades--which is to say, in an exculpatory role. If the writer affects the correct tone, they are exculpated for their entwinement with the mechanisms of power. 1/2

Trump Speech is endlessly fascinating to me — when you hear audio of him you can sort of parse what he's saying, follow along with his cadence, but when you transcribe the actual words it's this unintelligible goop. It's like trying to drink the cold Pepsi syrup out of the back of the machine

“Advertising is the graffiti of the rich” is gonna stay with me
Once upon a time, the ever-evolving graffiti on this reservoir near the psych unit was a cave-painting-record. I photographed much of it over months.
One day they painted it grey. The next day:

Did they announce what the cash prize is for being the shittiest person of 2025? It must be a lot because the field is thick.

(Hats off to this strong showing from Tara Simmons, though!)
Tara Simmons: pardons for me only, none for thee. Check out this ladder puller.

A rare interview with the creators of the always-funny, always-brilliant, and *usually*-sexy—or occasionally anti-sexy—OGLAF!

Cooper has kept a low profile over the years, but is legitimately one of the very best artists in comics today. Read OGLAF if you're old enough to drive!
Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.
