The take away for me from the Rachel Reeves "story" is that letting agencies need to be licensed with a binding code of conduct. Everyone working there should be DBS checked and should be a member of a professional standards body.

Hot take of the day: passkey based auth is a brilliant concept, but every single implementation out there right now is absolute dogshit, and the technology is fundamentally not ready for widespread adoption.

One thing my career has taught me is that the SECOND senior management start micromanaging things which should be below their pay grade: run. It's the archetypal "I'm hopelessy out of my depth so I'm latching on to something I can control" move.

This is my new favourite analogy for mainstream parties' problem with the radical right! If you're a mainstream party, you can talk about other things! If you're the government, you can talk about *and do* other things *and* you get to set the agenda, at least to some extent, much of the time!
Imagine you're in a weird romcom where Paul Hollywood is your rival. Do you go "let's have a bread baking competition" or do you emphasise your own relative strengths?
Because that in short has been the central problem with the traditional two's approach to anti-immigration voters and Reform UK.
