It’s not even so much about “sane” vs. “insane” anymore, as it so often was circa 2020. The fundamental split today is between the *decent* and the *indecent.* It is monstrous to desire, excuse, sanitize, whitewash avoidable killing even of one’s perceived foes.

there is a point here i want to amplify. the free speech defenders of the mainstream seem to have no awareness that actual free speech is often more fractious and destabilizing than civil and respectful. a society where speech is genuinely free isn’t the deferential space they want it to be.

Trump's superpower basically comes down to his ability to convince other low-trust people that he's a winner who's going to make them into winners too while punishing the people that made them feel like suckers, and he's incoherent enough that you can project all kinds of "winning" unto him.

Same as with what I think of online gambling, ex the puritanical view, if the usage stores up problematic behaviours in the tail of the distribution, *and* the tool is priced to mega growth, then the tool is going to be engineered in such a way to recruit more users to populate that tail
