To be fair, we thought they said "the best and the brightest" but obviously they said "no breasts and the whitest."

we've had two democratic presidents obsessed with turning the page and all it did was give the gop time to sharpen their knives before plunging it in our collective backs.

Yup. Unless your visit to the DC offices with @definitelyvita.bsky.social came first. But we definitely bonded on Twitter!

#Comics folks, I need you to pull up to this one.

The world sucks right now, and we have the opportunity to do a little bit of good for a displaced and marginalized member of our community. Please join me in supporting this KS campaign!

www.kickstarter.com/projects/den...
If you're somebody who values supporting marginalized voices in comics, here's your chance to put your money where your values are!

The writer of this RINGO NOM’D INDIE COMIC (and a very dear friend of mine) is a Syrian Refugee who has been through more continuous hardships than I have space to list here; constantly navigating visa applications, unstable living conditions, predatory landlords (limited options as a refugee).

Anas just wants to make comics and live a normal life like what so many of us take for granted. Backing this campaign will help Anas to take the next step toward freedom and autonomy, helping to fund a move to another country with more stable employment options. This is truly one of the most important comics purchases you will ever make.

Middle Eastern and North African comics creators are some of the most underrepresented in the comics industry of the western world. Anas isn’t running a GoFundMe to support this move, and is not asking for charity. Simply, Anas is using their talent for storytelling, along with Dennis’ gorgeous art, to offer you a beautiful experience in the comics medium, that also goes toward funding a better life for Anas.

I’m so proud of Anas, and humbled by their experiences and perseverance. I would like to see Anas’ Dream realized, and I’d love to see this community help to make that happen. Please join me in pledging to the Etheres Kickstarter campaign! (link below). Etheres cover B

people not from LA maybe don’t get how mixed into nature it is

from my balcony, in addition to squirrels and songbirds, I’ve seen:

hummingbirds
ravens
hawks (one even crashed into our balcony door)
parrots
bats
raccoons
possums
coyotes (sauntering right out in the street looking for pets to eat)

Can't believe they bailed on the show before Godot showed up.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

In this scenario, where I'm a pregnant woman having some kind of medical emergency, I'm supposed to care how much money the hospital makes from treating me? Why? The fuck is he talking about?

Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

Jonathan Rinderknecht, a white man, was charged with starting the Palisades Fire. But on X, the company's news summary tab shows a photo of a black man.

the answer to the trolley problem is not to pick who to sacrifice, it’s to dismantle the system that led to an unsafe trolley crossing.

if any part of your morality strategy involves picking a group to let die on a hill, throw the entire strategy out. it’s wrong.

DC's Misfits of Magic happened because of social media and that's something I've dreamed of making since I was a kid reading DC's Who's Who in 1985.

Like everything humans create, social media can be used for good and used for bad.

I really like when we use it for good.

"That's the point – the smudge, the rough line, the hesitation - that's what makes my work come alive." - Jim Lee talking about why DC will never use AI storytelling. "AI doesn't dream, feel or make art, it aggregates it."

People watched 8 Mile and decided all rapping is extemporaneous, making them "not lyrics" because it'll be different every time. Very smart. Much understanding.

Post includes a photo of Jim Lee in a black polo shirt, standing behind a podium in front of the ReedPop / NYCC logo backdrop we'll all see so much of in the coming days. Jim has looked almost exactly the same for decades (a short, trim Korean American man) but! now gray hair is adding gravitas.

Like if someone is willing to throw a vulnerable group under the bus to get elected, they obviously don't have strong principles (or perhaps any principles) so why would anyone believe that it's part of a long-term strategy for anything but self gain?

Yikes. Just got a message from my child’s school: some children’s books by Andrew Cope (inc. Spy Dogs, Spy Cats, and Spy Pups series) have a printed URL at the back. This used to go to the author’s website, but now goes to an “adult content” site.

So, yeah… be careful with that URL 😳

The first book I have read since getting a concussion 25 days ago was What Stalks the Deep, by @tkingfisher.com.

It was a delight, as always!

There is a thing in ALL of Ursula's writing that I want to appreciate here:

Character motivation when doing dumb things.
