There’s room for somebody on the left to wrap themselves in the flag a little & make a point that the right’s rejection of America as a creedal nation—and their ad hoc, ahistorical effort to make it an ethnonationalist project instead—is distinctly *unamerican,* a rejection of the national project.

Half the time I post something related to race on this website I get someone in the comments like, “yeah america is a racist country what do you expect.” I’m starting to think folks like this are bots or ops designed to make people feel helpless. Think we should call it “doomsplaining”
I do not care that you are not “surprised.” Please. You have no idea how tiresome it is when you post that something horrible, fascist, authoritarian is “not surprising.” Nothing is “surprising” anymore. But a lot of it is horrible and frightening. Let’s deal with it together.

Man, it would be great to have an opposition party in DC right now.
As @shannonrwatts.bsky.social pointed out, where's the Democrats Leadership's response to JD Vance and the Trump Administration essentially declaring war on the majority of America?

Debunking all his lies? Calling out right-wing terror?

Anything? Anything at all?

Reminder:
- there’s no left leaning ideology calling for violence in US, no leader of the broad center-left doing so either
- movement seeks to buttress democracy, rule of law and freedom, not undermine it
- tens of millions have marched and protested w/o incident this year
- it’s pure invention
These are the same people who dismissed countless public and private studies that showed conclusively that right-wing violence was, by far, the most pressing threat in America.

Now they're going to concoct something that purports to blame the left.

Once again, it's all projection and bad faith.

Exactly this. And it is important to overwhelm their systems before they're up and running. The corollary to "courage is contagious" is that everyone has to stand up *early*, not wait for others to go first. The sooner everyone demonstrates that their machine can't possibly do this, the better.
Look, they do not have the capacity or competence to do this at the scale they want you to fear they do, and your fear is precisely their greatest force multiplier. Everybody who is cowed into silence by their threats allows them a smaller pool to focus on.

RFK Jr is driving this country towards an almost certain public health disaster.

If Democrats can’t stop it, at the very least they can get it on the record now that they wanted him gone and the GOP wanted him kept in.

Underline how they own the disasters to come. It’s Politics 101.
House Democrats could force a vote on impeaching RFK any time they want. Of course it would fail. But do you want to make an issue of it or not?
This is such a no-brainer that the lack of a coordinated response feels deeply damning. A Democratic leadership team that can't mobilize an instant all-hands-on-deck effort on RFK Jr. isn't a leadership team at all.

I know Democrats are overwhelmed (or rudderless, if you are less charitable) by the sheer volume of Trump authoritarian moves, but I’d like to see them unified behind specific goals like “RFK Jr is a threat to public health and needs to go.”
