1. beef tallow fell out of usage in the 80s! b/c deep frying food is bad for you and worse for you in beef tallow
2. This is part of the war on "seed oil" which is part of the wellness right wing drift
3. the best fries are deep fried in duck fat
Really glad the eye rolling about virtue signaling became so hegemonic there’s now a race afoot to signal the most vice.

At a time when America is on fire and Americans have become more isolated from each other, recognizing the good of an imperfect collective action that brings people together and illustrates the potential for bigger actions is a lot better than being a stick in the mud.
If you really, really want to join the February 28 blackout I guess go ahead, because it’s basically harmless. And that’s the problem with it.
Why I’m Not Joining the Economic Blackout Day
There are a lot of effective ways to protest what's happening to the country. Boycotting everything is not one of them.

something I’ve never stopped thinking about since I learned it: the proud boys do disaster relief as a recruiting tactic. they show up faster than the government and so people are like “these guys helped me when nobody else would”
Remember when Jen Psaki scoffed at the idea of the government giving people free COVID tests? That's the massive failure of the Democratic Party's mindset right there.

JUST HELP PEOPLE, YOU LOSERS. NO MATTER WHAT. AND TAKE CREDIT.

Very moving @nhpr.bsky.social interview with a Jan 6er from Keene, NH, who rejected Trump’s pardon and sounds like he has grown tremendously in 4 years. “One thing I did not believe in was change before this experience…And now I believe change is necessary for survival.” www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2025...
Keene man arrested for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 rejects Trump’s pardon
On his first day in office this week, President Donald Trump pardoned all rioters at the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Jason Riddle served time in jail for his participation in the 2021 riot.
