I've been saying for months that I am a single-issue voter, and that issue is retribution. I don't want to hear the word "bipartisan" from any 2028 candidate. I want to hear their plans for deporting Elon Musk, holding everyone in this administration accountable, and dismantling the Supreme Court.

A world of spiteful children in positions of power should long ago ceased to be shocking. We should no longer be the toys they get to smash their oversize dumper trucks into. We must poison their sandpits. Lace their building blocks with psychoactive substances.

Prison for all ICE scumbags. Misogynist, racist, fascist losers who’ve been told they’re above the law. They all need to be thrown in a fucking dungeon for life.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Coworker: "Scott Adams died. No doubt he'll be praised as a real American patriot by the current administration."

Me: "Nonsense. He didn't die a martyr, and dead men toe no lines. He's not useful anymore, he'll be forgotten."

The animating principle of representational democracy is to protect the rest of us from the whims of deranged rich people, be they kings or oligarchs. Everything else is wainscoting.
The problem is that the child porn website is owned by the richest man in the world, who no one wants to pick a fight with, and even less so now that he's aligned with the president of the U.S., himself a maniacal sex criminal. Nothing gets fixed without breaking the political power of big money
I am once again reminding you all that the UK government introduced an Online Safety Act that is effectively a porn ban on most adult porn websites, but is dithering over banning a website that is actually creating child porn.

A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

My latest for Slate
You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

You are spreading enemy propaganda when you say this.

You are saying exactly the lie the fascist Trump regime wants you to believe and say.
When you say that “most Americans support the murder of Renee Good (or most other awful MAGA actions,” you are doing Trump’s propaganda work for him.

Polling makes it very clear that most Americans do NOT support this shit.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren lays out vision for a 'big tent,' telling Democrats not to cater to wealthy donors
The former presidential candidate called out a "tepid, nibble-around-the-edges approach" to economic policy and criticized specific figures in the party by name as part of the problem.

This is so gross. It used to be that you could become a famous author by just writing good books. Now you have to start with a massive social media following.
You could just say this is a more honest way of saying what other rejection letters obfuscate around. But it’s indicative of a lie that the publishing industry has become faithful to, which is the lie that an author having 100,000+ Instagram followers automatically makes their book a better book.
I can’t stop thinking about a rejection letter a friend had from a publisher for his manuscript which said, “I think I’d have really liked this, if you were more famous.”

An actual person, who is paid to read books, said that.

Don't be afraid to make yourself vulnerable in your writing. Being vulnerable means being fully present: otherwise your writing will come over as distant; superior; insincere.

Villager is a favorite book of mine. It has gentle magic in the ways it tugs the imagination and emotions and uses those soft pulls to tremendous effect. It's an inspiration in my own literary flailings. Anyone would do themselves - and Tom - a favor in picking up a copy. It deserves to be read.
THREAD. How A Publisher Almost Killed The Book I Waited My Whole Life To Write.

My novel Villager came out in 2022. It was published by Unbound, who had little marketing/sales power. But I was excited & proud, since I worked so f-ing hard on it.

Got my bicycle from storage. Checked tires, greased the chain, tensioned shifter cables. Hopped on to test it.

Neglected the brakes.

Dislocated shoulder, road rash along one forearm, dislocated thumb, and contusion from the handlebars slamming into my stomach.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.
