I think a lot of trans people go way too easy on organisations that choose to be complicit in our oppression. I believe this is due to internalised transphobia. We often don't think we're important enough for other people to care about our safety, wellbeing, and equitable involvement in society.

If your choice is between an existential risk to your organisation, vs being a fascist collaborator, and you make the difficult choice to be a collaborator...

...then you are still a collaborator.
Like, I'm sorry the fascists are giving you difficult choices. But that's what fascists fucking do. The only legit answer is "fuck you make me". The only answer that shows you have actual fucking principles not preferences is "fuck you make me". And that sucks. But here we are.

I commend the government for taking this hugely important step, alongside £550m funding for specialist support services. These are the policies we need more of.

My mum's done over 38 years for GirlGuiding. A Queen's Guide, she ran Brownie troupes, was a commissioner, even had her Brownie troupe at her wedding.

Tonight, bc of this decision, she has requested immediate removal of her membership because she stands with ALL women and girls, not just cis ones.

I learned today that Girl Guides in South Africa was a movement of White Imperialism, & the last Scouting institution to refuse admission of 'non western girls' until growing international pressure finally allowed Black & Indian girls from 1936 -though continued to force segregation of non whites /

Girl Guides have been a beacon of inclusion and a ray of hope that hatred of LGBT+ people is not really as widespread as it feels.

Gender critical bullying of inclusive institutions by threat of litigation is cheap, harmful and utterly poisonous.

Thinking of the parents & young people affected. 🏳️‍⚧️
The Girl Guide announcement.

What can I say?

I’m imagining if it was my child - the conversations and explanations, the apologies, “I’m sorry, so sorry,” trying to comfort but feeling a failure because I couldn’t protect her from GC hate.

And the child and parents - a little bit more broken.

I find it very strange how a legal decision which relates solely to gender recognition certificates – something under 18s definitively cannot have – is being used to justify changes to longstanding policies on including trans kids.

What I hate most about the Girl Guides banning trans girls and women is that they do the double speak of being inclusive and saying we were forced to do it.

They weren't forced to, and even if the law worked that way, you can't be inclusive while enforcing discrimination of the state.

I wonder how differently this would have been framed if they were celebrating passing a motion in support of "women's liberation" that nearly a third of members opposed.
🚨 BREAKING | Your Party has voted to enshrine trans rights into the party's founding policy documents.

Two motions, which both passed with a supermajority (with 10,000+ people voting) committed the new party to explicitly supporting "trans liberation".

Did you know?

In the Victorian era, many rural Britons believed that animals could speak at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve.

This old superstition held that cattle, horses, and even barnyard fowl would gain the power of human speech for a single sacred moment.

The more I think about this, the worse it feels. Richard Dunstan, that "good friend" of Sex Matters, is suggesting I enjoyed being raped as a child.
I thought I could not be shocked by what prominent transphobes feel able to say about me. Turns out I was wrong.

Here is Richard Dunstan, a prominent commentator closely associated with the Sex Matters charity, speculating that I enjoyed being sexually assaulted as a child.
