A leader who is easily swayed by fatuous flattery assumes that other leaders are just as easily swayed by fatuous flattery.
Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

The year is 2035. California's entire base of taxation is young renters and their entire budget goes to insuring suburban McMansions built in fire hazard regions. Half of Florida is underwater financially and the other half literally. Illinois is fine but still fucks up transit funding constantly.

shit like this is the core of the damage the social internet has done to us

we have replaced actual expertise with "some dude with a podcast who makes you feel like his buddy while he bullshits into a microphone" and now a ton of people think that measles and chicken pox are the same
Yeah, this dum dum is talking about chicken pox.

Anyway, it's very cool and awesome that he has so much cultural and political influence.

New data shows that in big cities, the construction of luxury apartments is starting to drive down rents for more middle-market homes.
Luxury Apartments Are Bringing Rent Down in Some Big Cities
Rents got cheaper in several major cities this past year, thanks to an influx of luxury apartment buildings opening their doors and luring tenants to vacate their old homes.

A small (personal) example of this book’s intellectual dishonesty:

My father-in-law is reading In Covid’s Wake, and excitedly told me he found a passage where I’m quoted. The quote in question is me saying the FBI worked to censor speech on social media.

Huh? When did I say that?!
