not the first time a pitino game against michigan won't count
Hey, good news, Michigan basketball beat St. John's at MSG.

It won't count, but still.

Crazy to require this huge sidewalk shed when the building is so far from the sidewalk. The only part of the facade that anybody will come close to is already protected by a canopy!

instead of spending $300m on tv ads no one watches, maybe next cycle the Dem-aligned PACs could pay a few hundred unemployed ex-investigative journalists just to track down and out every pedophile Republican running for office

oh my god we're CONCACAF
The parallels between UM's basketball and football teams late in the season forcing their opponents to play their style of ball regardless of whether they want to or not remains intriguing.

Incrediblely bad fit, you can pick anything he's wearing and it clashes with everything else.

so consequentially a lot of the public commentary assumes the kind of Efficient Market Theory authoritarian instead of two tweakers trying to rip everything out of the building to sell for drug money

all these guys believe in the Idea of silicon valley -- rebel employees going off to found a new competitor when the big giant gets cumbersome -- and are utterly unwilling to consider they might be on the other end of the equation
there's something at the back of my brain that's been bubbling for awhile about so many tech executives going frothingly insane because virtually all of them understand that their real talent is financialization and financial manipulation, and they're all absolutely seething about it.
I will admit my views of the tech industry have radically changed in a way my overall politics haven’t since the election, for fairly obvious reasons. I still won’t jump on the pro-Luddite (any sense, and yes I know the real history) bandwagon but I truly did expect better of the industry

Unscientific vibe shift prediction: wouldn't be surprised if you saw a shift among liberal artists who take politics more seriously/are very tapped into the zeitgeist from "you can't trust THE MAN, who has AN AGENDA" to "you can't trust selfish people who won't cooperate when it's needed"

If you told me "an extremely senile Trump was re elected after being convicted of a felony but the real president is Elon Musk, who's a Nazi now, and he's employing his drug dealer and nazi child pornographers to tear down the entire US government" in 2020 I'd have thought you were on crack
ten years ago telling most people we would end up like this would get you locked up in an nuthouse. all of this makes me less convinced about the ability to project out political outcomes, especially ones that feel immutable in a moment we can't see past
