Covid-Aware and salty about it.
I own slapping gloves, so please watch your mouth.
I wonder how much illness will be too much before people start to wear proper masks…
Caregivers are carrying a part of the pandemic most people never see. For families living with COVID, Long COVID, or chronic illness, caregiving is not a “month” or a moment, it’s a daily reality shaped by responsibility, fear, love, and constant adaptation.

I know
most people do not care
about viral threats
to humans or animals,
but in Greece a virus has killed
nearly 500,000
sheep and goats
imperiling the supply
of feta cheese,
so even if people do not care
about humans or animals
perhaps they’ll care
about viral threats to cheese.

If everyone wore n95 respirators at conventions, there'd be basically no such thing as "con crud".

Remember this when you're recovering from Covid or "Some Kind Of Bad Flu... Not Covid™️ Though" after MFF.

Not loving how many people out there think some people “deserve food” while others…don’t?
It costs the average taxpayer $34 a year to fund SNAP.

It costs nearly $200 a day to detain an immigrant in an ICE camp.

Your tax dollars are paying to detain people without due process instead of providing healthcare, food & housing.

Let that radicalize you.

COVID vs Flu (New York data)

New York State Health Commissioner reports:

🔹Nearly 3,000 COVID deaths in 2024
🔹Roughly 700 flu deaths (2024)

That’s about 3× more COVID deaths than flu.

Absolutely wrecked with grief at these two losses.

@leslieleeiii.bsky.social’s Long Covid journey has mirrored my own and for the same length of time.

@sfdirewolf.bsky.social has been a beacon of light, joy, hope, and inspiration for so many of us. She will be deeply missed by her community.

Alice Wong was one of the most effective people challenging the Whiteness of disability communities and its many flaws, but who believed fiercely in us as a community, in disabled people as oracles.

Alice brought so much to so many of us, it’s hard to measure the kind of gratitude I have for that.

So glad the people who cared about Alice Wong are posting photos of themselves masked in solidarity, right? Right?
Because we all know the way to help the marginalized individuals in our society is to slow the continued spread of COVID.

If an airborne virus emerged that undeniably targeted people like you… would you wear a mask to protect yourself?

Now try to find a group of people that don’t suffer negative effects of a lot of currently circulating viruses…

So is now a good time to bring up wearing a mask and releasing real science DATA daily in the news?

“I’m honored to be your ancestor.”

While I’m pretty sure Alice Wong will be haunting a few people, I hope her fierce soul rests peacefully. What a loss for the human world.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

Glad I got to become disabled in a world that already had Alice Wong @sfdirewolf.bsky.social in it. I learned so much from her incredible writing & activism. May her memory be a blessing, & may we all continue her work.
Easiest way to do it? WEAR A MASK. Protect yourself & the vulnerable around you.

Embarrassing that Minnesota, home of the Mayo Clinic, is not part of this alliance. I guess tracking the pandemic and things like H5N1 might cut into their profit…
15 US states and territories have formed a new Public Health Alliance, which will counter the absence of federal leadership by tracking outbreaks, issuing guidance, buying vaccines and more.

Members of the new alliance include CA, CO, CT, DE, GU, HI, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, RI, WA.

They’ll say anything but Covid…
“Between 2019 and 2024, for example, the number of doctor visits related to memory problems more than doubled, from 41,722 doctor visits to 98,910 doctor visits in 2024. Among children aged 5-14, visits had nearly tripled.”

Ever noticed how these increases are always since 2019?

What happened to the “My Body, My Choice” crowd? Why limit access to vaccines? If you don’t want a booster, don’t get it. Less than 25% of Americans were even getting boosted last year! Just let the people get the booster if they want it!
So, they are asking for a prescription now for the covid vaxx.
I tried to order through Walgreens and got the "prescriprion required". This is technically a change in the label.
Trying to schedule through CVS gives me a different message
(I put an age younger than 65 in both cases)

It’s really time for y’all to #WearAMask
It’s amazing how many people are buying tons of supplements, following snake oil grifters & spending obscene amounts of money in the pursuit of “lasting health”… yet won’t wear a mask.

Wearing a well fitted respirator may be the single most impactful thing you can do for long term health!
