How could it possibly do this when it is a plausibility generator? Why would I want the most likely sounding response if I am supposedly 'using it as a dialogic thinking space' why would I want any of it??? Why do you think it is possible to improve cognition by doing less of it? I do not get this.
If you use it as a dialogic thinking space where you externalities thought and use it to hold, reshape, question, extent, perturb your thinking. Just like a good teacher or mentor could, except you need to set and guide the interaction style.

Once you decide there's nothing bad enough the president can do to warrant impeachment you're kind of done. You're relegated to holding a bunch of hearings which is a PR battle for the subsequent election, but in the meantime you're stuck with a criminal president

They've persuaded themselves that avoiding impeachment is a savvy move because there aren't enough votes to remove him but a major consequence of this is the ~normalizing~ effect of Congress abdicating its only real check on a lawless president. Then you're just left with huffing and puffing

I was doing a lot of reading on psychoanalysis/general psychotherapy and it's crazy how much of it is teaching the therapist specifically to NOT do what ChatGPT does, because it's bad for the client.
If you’ve seen any personal stories about AI induced psychosis, the machine’s constant availability is key to the person’s mental devolution. The machine is not a replacement for this man’s interpersonal relationships… yet. But the insistence on using the machine is an enormous red flag.

It’s no accident ChatGPT is finding itself popular since the pandemic began. I know I sound like a broken record but we truly have been broken by the pandemic and then forced back into this fiction of ‘normal’ and I think it’s hurting so many of us
Yeah chatgpt is the worst worst solution to the loneliness problem bc instead of the solution being what it actually is (doing the hard thing & overcoming anxiety & awkwardness to connect with people), they're like, here's a NO PEOPLE option, a simulation without any of the friction people come with
I mean this in the kindest way: this could be solved by creating meaningful connections with your peers/colleagues. I have a writing group and a thinking group and plenty of people to text or call with questions, and it doesn’t require draining the earth of resources or stealing work.

So glad to see this written about. It takes 4 - 6 (or more!) human labor hours of editing, mixing and mastering to make a 90 minute conversation flow nicely and artfully. Video-forward shows tend to excise this process entirely and the resultant conversations flow and sound like shit as a result.
