Some people rather eat a bicycle tire between two fleece jackets and call it a burger than credit Black people for anything even when they stand on top of Black shoulders and squeeze out every ounce of semantics, style and even the scholarship on it from Black ppl to shape their own.
wp are so invested in mislabelling aave as "internet speak" or "gen z" because if they had to remove aave expressions from their own vocab they end up sounding antiquated, proving that Black language and culture had/has a crucial part in propelling the english language forward and shaping it.
