In a surprise to absolutely none of the autistic community ❤️
Today in research FTW: "Autistic participants were more generous towards strangers & people they barely knew than non-autistic individuals." So basically autistic people are kind regardless of whether or not they know the person; non-autistics need social vetting.

Autistic individuals are more prosocial towards strangers and people they barely know
While most people become less generous towards strangers, autistic adults maintain high levels of prosocial behavior regardless of social distance. New research confirms this generosity is intentional...

as a disabled person, I don't give a shit if someone that isn't disabled gets disability, or food stamps. because like. people that don't "look disabled" often have invisible disabilities. so we can't just claim that someone's faking their disability. Especially because we're not professionals.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

You Can’t Fight Fascism While Defunding Libraries

But he still believes the natural order of things requires men to be supreme. Men must protect, provide and procreate. It's dressed in progressive language, but it's fundamentally a patriarchal box to trap men in

like the "abundance" folks, this guy goes out of his way to pretend that U.S. government dysfunction is just born from an innate love of pointless bureaucracy, and isn't a direct, intentional byproduct of America's top problem: corruption and unchecked corporate power
There is such a thirst in some progressive centrist circles that they will look at the Trump administration as a model to get things done. I think its worth addressing the argument. This is from Mark Dunkelman, author of the widely praised "Why Nothing Works."

Abandoning compliance with the law is a reckless decision that will risk service members' lives and vital US interests the world over:

Yes. “You do not execute survivors who are clinging onto a side of a ship.” Why? Because they pose no threat to you. They didn't even pose a threat to you when you blew up their boat. Extrajudicial killings, like extrajudicial kidnapping and imprisonment, are simply illegal.

With respect, Senator Kelly, you do not blow up civilian boats because you suspect they *might* be drug traffickers.
I’m sure the self-proclaimed ‘most transparent White House in history’ won’t mind a thorough investigation into the second strike.

Hegseth must go—resign or be fired. No question that murders or war crimes were committed on his watch. His criminal culpability may be contested, but no question that he’s ultimately accountable. He directed the strikes be lethal & total. The buck stops with him.
