Imo, this is tied to the quote about how conservatism relies on

1. ingroups are protected by law, but not bound by it

and

2. Outgroups are bound by laws, but not protected by them

Part of their protection is making sure you're never allowed to be away from them. You aren't allowed to be free
The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

To me, someone who grew up in a Clinton liberal family, the question has an obvious answer: you are not in community with open white supremacists, ever, even if you are aligned on some specific issue.

You are not going to coalition-build with alt-righters. They are not fellow travelers.

Congratulations to Google on making a shitty thing worse.
Google starts rolling out ads in AI mode; the ads look similar to the citations in AI answers but with a "sponsored" label (Mayank Parmar/BleepingComputer)

Kash Patel's personal firing of the Pride flag-displaying employee was always absurd and unconstitutional, so I'm glad David Maltinsky is suing, but, wait.

It was a flag FLOWN BY THE FBI that was given to him BY THE FBI?! Come on.

I’ve never had a full blown ghostly encounter of my own, but my godmother, a very practical woman, once pulled up a chair and had a firm conversation with a ghost after one too many nights being woken up by electronics she’d taken the batteries out of activating suddenly and playing sounds

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

If you get a notice from Bluesky that they are complying with a government subpoena about your account, put this app down, shut the fuck up and call an attorney.

Rah explains in detail below, but that’s the gist: STFU, lawyer up. Welcome to STFU Friday, starring: you.
Hey, friend, it is time to do Future You a very huge favor: stop saying literally anything about this online, especially speculating what it might be about or what the grand jury might be looking at. If you think you know what it's about, no you don't.
