Charlie Kirk’s assassination was horrific.

That doesn’t change the fact that the vast majority of gun (and political) violence has been perpetuated by right wingers.

You don’t get to change the narrative at will.

Notice how not a SINGLE CLIP of Charlie Kirk is being shown on TV as the news organizations try to eulogize him kindly. Even Fox News. You cannot show a SINGLE THING he ever said that wasnt spewing HATE and violence.

What a legacy.

Experiencing the terror of realizing that you're hearing gunfire and needing to flee is a violence. It's deeply traumatizing, and it gets inflicted on so many Americans and it's crazy that we don't talk more about the effects surviving such events have on people.

There are violent extremists on the left but they are not in charge of the party. You can find them on social media, not in the halls of power.

The violent extremists on the right are in congress, on courts, and sitting in the Oval Office.

Here’s the bottom line for what’s going on with Grok - if the owner of the website is putting his thumb on the scale hard enough for the chatbot to turn into Goebbels, you should be deeply concerned about what he’s doing to the algorithm that you can’t so easily see, and what it’s doing to you

1/ If Justice Barrett thinks we need to go back to what the Founding Fathers intended, I’ve got news for her. Their biggest concern was avoiding tyranny. So they created 3 branches of gov’t & divvied up the power the people (that’s us) were allowing the gov’t to use to create order for all of us.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Sound familiar?

That’s why they’re going after education, museums, books and literally trying to change history … So it’s not familiar and and they can get away with doing it again.

@prisonculture.bsky.social and I have been encouraging people to read chapter six of our book, Let This Radicalize You, which deals with the question of "violence" in social movements. We have decided to share the chapter publicly, to offer some context and grounding for the current conversation.

JUST IN: Two ballot measures to protect public libraries from the conservative city council in Huntington Beach are both ahead by very wide margins.

Measure to repeal a 'book review committee' up 61/39.
Measure to bar privatization up 63/37.

That's already with 51K+ ballots counted.

Context:
did you know? a wealthy beach town in southern California now has an all-MAGA city board, and they've been going after public libraries and book access

public library advocates have organized two ballot measures to counter: it's on the ballot on JUNE 10.

Sorry to keep banging this drum, but in ways big and small, the point of shoving “ai” into these devices is to insert the tech as a replacement for interpersonal relationships and foster distrust in your own assessments of how you feel.

Any protest that would actually stop ICE would be labeled a riot lol. You can't say "the people will stop this via protest" and then pretend it's OK to send in the tanks when the protest starts working.

It's so depressing to me how quickly people have decided that safety regulations just don't matter. You really don't want botulism, listeria, or salmonella and there are very few companies who will put ethics over profits unless they're forced to. This is what government should be doing.
The reason why older generations burnt the shit out of their meat and boiled the shit out of their vegetables, was your kid died if you didn't.

Medium rare steaks and roasted Brussels sprouts are a side effect of an intact food safety infrastructure
"The Agriculture Department will not require poultry companies to limit salmonella bacteria in their products, halting a Biden Administration effort to prevent food poisoning from contaminated meat."

The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)

Kidnapping.

Capturing a person against their will without due process is called kidnapping.

Transporting them to another country without due process is called human trafficking.

A squalid extrajudicial prison for people found guilty of no crime is called a concentration camp.
stop calling things deportation just because they call it deportation.

-You cannot legally deport people without due process.

-You cannot legally deport citizens.

-They are defining down deportation to break the law.

The message is: crowd large.

Many politicians, administrators, and business leaders, in bowing to Trump, have drawn confidence and comfort from the perceived vibe shift.

Events like this puncture that delusion.
You can stop asking where the mass opposition is. It's everywhere.
People poured out to protest not only what Trump has done—and what they fear he will do next.
