they are sending people to Black Beach, in Equitorial Guinea, for third-country detention.
I would be very surprised if a full accounting in the future didn't reveal more than one mass grave at the detention centers. If they're behaving this way in public, what's happening out of sight must be many times more brutal.
Imagine what’s happening in the camps.

I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

I will be insanely overdressed for a live podcast bc I will be coming from NFL honors. So basically it will be a bunch of dudes in jeans and me in a red carpet dress lol 🫠
Will you be wearing Seahawks attire or do you have to appear neutral to be considered a “professional”?

Reports that Europe is looking to have Paris extend its nuclear umbrella across the continent. I imagine De Gaulle—who withdrew France from NATO’s military command—would be thrilled. The UK too interwoven w/ & subordinate to the US, Ger. afraid of its own history of militarism: Neo-Gaullism rises.

I almost forgot, this is very important. Day 1: restaff FBI FARA Unit, quadruple their budget, and give them the mandate to nail Republicans and Democrats alike straight to the fucking wall
- The DOJ disciplined attorneys list needs to expand dramatically
- A fair few GOFOs need to be put out to pasture immediately

these are just some things I was thinking about, maybe the start of a to do list in the future

Another one of those "stupid cyberpunk" things is how the people in economically disadvantaged countries who used to do things like sell World of Warcraft gold have moved on to ragebait farming on places like Twitter because of the revenue sharing makes it way more profitable
To the commentariat young left wing women do not exist but young right wing men (who may or may not be Bangladeshi bot farms) must be endlessly catered to in order to save democracy or something.

Been reading Atkinson’s series on the Revolutionary War (which everyone should read) and he notes how when the war with the colonies broke out, Great Britain also found itself overwhelmed with the popularity of gambling on everything to the point of gamblers taking out life insurance on other people

the problem with the EU is primarily in that both its enemies and its most fervent advocates seem to believe that the function of the EU is to ensure that the regulatory state is absolutely comprehensive down to the microscopic level, and that Germany is never responsible for anyone else's debt

Gonna go tell grandpa that getting drafted out of a camp and killing nazis to prove he's American was a dumb choice, he should have gone back to Japan like the fascist he was
White men are really having a hard time seeing all of their participation trophies be blown to proverbial bits.
I really dislike this leftie tendency to use all of the horrible crimes this country has committed as proof that the country is irredeemable, when the people who fought against it often did so *as Americans* because it implies they were a bunch of stupid fucking rubes

i like how this person thinks this is an own instead of the fact that Japanese-Americans believed in America more than the fucking idiots that interned them

The fixation on Operation Paperclip is honestly kind of funny because the US Army Historical Division is arguably way worse and way more consequential for nazi lost causers and Clean Wehrmacht shit
Operation Paperclip criticism is always so weird. We basically enslaved Nazi scientists for years. What's some better alternative that people imagine here?
1: literally every allied power in europe did this, and the Soviets actually did it the most

2: this is in no way contrary to anyone fighting the nazis, the fact that the allied powers were in a position to capture/accept the surrender of scientists and engineers is *because* they fought the nazis

You correctly point out that you cannot have reconciliation without the crucifixion

You err to the extent that you suggest that America can only be crucified, and not reconciled
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow
