Lamar wants to have children with his girlfriend. The problem? She's the spellcheck function for Microsoft Word 2003
The first point here is she isn't his girlfriend; she's a sycophantic computer programme he's set up to praise him.

We need to stop indulging this

One guy tried, unsuccessfully, to blow up a plane with a bomb in his sneakers, and everybody had to take off their shoes at the airport for the next 20 years.

Chatbots have a collective body count equal to Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez, and they're trying to put them in schools.
30 years ago they were like we have to ban song lyrics for the children but it’s full steam ahead for the here’s how to do drugs until you die machine
“ChatGPT started coaching Sam on how to take drugs, recover from them and plan further binges. It gave him specific doses of illegal substances, and in one chat, it wrote, ‘Hell yes—let’s go full trippy mode’”

Another one from much warmer times, recording 'What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow' in North Carolina. A welcome reminder that spring will always come again.

I hope you’re staying bundled up out there and enjoying time with loved ones.

Reminder that years ago it was found out that the FBI straight up made up a whole bunch of fake forensic sciences, plural. People have gone to jail and been executed due to literally pseudoscience.

Hair forensics, for instance, is totally nonsense.

They admitted it.

Just found out Martyn Cornell has died.
He wrote two very nice articles about beer and water during the middle ages that I've often linked to.

They've been saved here;

Was water really regarded as dangerous to drink in the Middle Ages? - Zythophile
It's a story I've been guilty of treating a little too uncritically myself: "In the Middle Ages people drank beer rather than water because the water wasn't safe." But is that correct? No, not at all,...

I think it could be a useful tool kit to share with elders and people with intellectual disabilities. Often, I've seen and heard people look no further than those AI summaries and it would be wonderful to have a path beyond that.
All - genuinely.

If this is something you want to see, can you quote tweet this and explain why?

Since I've been fighting to write this book for years, and I keep getting told there's no market interest.

I get it; it's not a sexy book. But it's an important book, imho. LMK what you think?
Also: I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Publishing, let me write a media literacy book, I am begging you. I keep being told that there's no appetite for this...

But how can there NOT be, when it's an urgent and pressing issue, especially with how we aggregate news + use of AI?
