Hi there, I'm a professional Graphic Designer and I make a comic in my free-time. It's called Hellhound and it's just about a guy trying, and sometimes failing, to figure out life. Oh and he's a wizard, so there's magic and monsters and stuff.

Backgrounds can be tricky but there's a LOT of ways to simplify them and make them easier. This is true of every aspect of comics though!
Generally, 1-2 more detailed backgrounds per page are MORE than enough, but it depends on where the focus needs to be in the moment.

Companies put and allow AI-slop into their games (whether it is AAA, AA, indie, whatever) because they think players are stupid and accept anything and everything shoveled into their faces.

SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.

Thursday I was thinking it would be really cool if I could get two pages done in December before I went on vacation. Saturday we had snow and I finished a whole page (minus a few details I'm doing today). Sunday I penciled and nearly finished the inks for the second page.

I try to keep that in mind, but also I think I do alright considering I'm the only person writing/drawing my comic. There are times I get frustrated at the pace I work at but all things considered an average of 1 page a week for the level of quality I strive for isn't bad.

if you're one person making a comic by yourself, don't treat yourself like you should function on the same level as comics that have multiple people working on them. your backgrounds can be squiggles and colors.

I'll keep repeating it til' I'm blue in the face - making comics is actually an exceptionally difficult task. I'm quick as hell but each page I draw represents about 10-20 hours of work from writing to final output. I deserve to be paid for that work.

I am just over half way through a graphic adaptation of an epic Irish medieval eco-fable. I've about 12-18 months left on it. I'd like to focus more on the lost habitats/sepsis, but that will come. The writer is great to work with. I've learned to love green 💚 in all its shades

My last page was complicated (for me) and when I’m stuck on a page I’m having a hard time with it takes me forever. The next page was pretty standard by comparison but fr it took a day to finish and I feel like I did something wrong lmao

Many of us weren't well supervised in the 80s. Our parents gave us house keys, dropped us at school, and hoped for the best.
