#Evidence-Based
California stands with our nurses, doctors, scientists, and patients.

While Trump takes a wrecking ball to the advancement of our public health, we’re modernizing resources and building trust on evidence-based, science-backed decision-making to create better health outcomes.

Speed limits are generally evidence based, unlike your plan of setting them based on vibes felt by a moron

YES! As someone said the other day in another context, it’s “decision-based evidence- making.”
My humanities dept was relevant. Majors were up. Courses were 100% enrolled. Revenue positive, GE serving, etc etc. We were still eliminated.

The problem is ideological administrative destruction. Couldn’t write a report, a self study, or a spreadsheet against that.
'For humanities departments to continue to matter, they must challenge the modern world rather than accommodate it. Indeed, the most useful lesson the humanities have to offer today is a profoundly countercultural one: Difficulty is good, an end in its own right.' 2/2

Excellent piece from @mmasnick.bsky.social - based on the scoop by @cameronwilson.bsky.social @crikey.com.au .

The bottom line: 'policy development' in Australia is far too often based on vested interests, with evidence not even getting a look in. #auspol

These national leaders will partner with @governor.ca.gov and CDPH’s Dr. Pan to advance public health innovation, cross-state collaboration, and clear communication — filling the vacuum left by the Trump admin’s systematic retreat from science and evidence-based public health

This bill does not protect kids. Instead, it polices identities and
criminalizes the practice of safe pediatric medicine. Make no mistake that point for point, every claim made within this bill regarding this long-standing and
evidence-based field of medicine is refuted by a robust body of evidence.

Really tired of saying this: policy should be based on evidence, not vibes. And especially not on vibes from pressure groups.

Take a moment to meet FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. He is the guy who is leading the agency that is working overtime to enrich his MAHA patrons by taking away your kids’ access to vaccines & essential medicines. He’s replacing evidence-based regulation with corruption.
FDA Commissioner Marty Makary built his platform not on science but on spectacle. Makary turned a medical career into a megaphone for misinformation. Once a surgeon and professor, he built his brand on public skepticism, rising to power by attacking the very scientific standards he now oversees.

When you're trying to be seen as a legit clinical professional, peppering evidence-based throughout your document doesn't obviate the buzzword salad that shows you're in no way evidence-based (systems biology, methylation, micorbiota, etc etc).

Which means that now these immigrants, who are not from Honduras, who do not have lawyers, and do not speak english, must come up with an evidence-based defense showing that they would be violently harmed or tortured in Honduras.

In 60 days. A country they are not from.

* vaccines keep kids from dying
* guns cause kids to die

these are unassailable conclusions based on mountains of evidence

it is a crying shame that politicians pretend otherwise, endangering our kids and everyone else’s

He has overruled FDA experts and advisors to withhold access to COVID vaccines. He has interfered with normal evidence-based regulatory practices, despite claiming to be a huge proponent of "evidence-based medicine"

When the FDA’s expert committees recommended expanding access to COVID-19 vaccines, Prasad personally intervened to overrule them. His decision delayed vaccine approvals, undercut medical consensus, and set back efforts to protect millions of Americans.

Last night, I tried to write about evidence-based solutions. I was originally trained as a violence epidemiologist, am married to a police officer, and am a mom. I know there are things we can do.
I wrote it.
Deleted it.
Rewrote it.

A recent piece on RFK’s approach to health policy called it “decision-based evidence-making,” and that seems an apt way to describe this whole administration.

Makary wasted no time establishing that the FDA would now ensure that food is safe to eat and medicine actually works based on ideology, not evidence.

bsky.app/profile/save...
Inside the FDA, Makary has reportedly overridden advisory committees, halted vaccine approvals, and pressured scientists to retract data that contradicted his agenda. Under his leadership, evidence-based medicine has been replaced by optics and obedience.

I don't mean this as a canned response but as an evidence-based reality.

They don't just want brown people gone. They want them to suffer.

It's funny because the Nation has spent the past few years insinuating far worse behavior from Clinton based on far thinner evidence.

Supporting the Palestinian demand for justice & the full grant of their political, national, civil & human rights, as encapsulated in international law [is not antisemitic].

Criticizing or opposing Zionism [is not antisemitic].

Evidence-based criticism of Israel as a state [is not antisemitic].

During Biden’s term, CDC was promoting evidence based vaccination. RFK Jr, Fox, and diverse vax quacks undermined medical evidence.

I call upon Fox to retract their misinfo.

MSM must do better for public health.

People have challenged me on the narrative that the flu is fomite dominant, and they're right to do so. The evidence for this is weak. Best I can determine, maybe 10% max of transmission is fomite-based. Even so, that's a 10% that we can control. So why not try. Don't touch your face; wash hands.
COVID has a strong airborne component, so N95 masks work well to contain it. The flu, on the other hand, has a strong fomite component, so masks might not be the primary prevention tool. What does this mean?
