To be clear, the problem is not the tool (Citation Chaser or Lens.org, where Citation Chaser gets its metadata from). The problem is the publishers that are withholding and preventing the abstracts from being openly available.

And the impact in this case, is on screening at the title-abstract level

Some people think ChatGPT has a place writing things like news briefs, stuff written to a specific style and tone and, y'know, kinda boring.

So Science did a study.

ChatGPT failed.

Why? It got stuff wrong. "Also, extensive editing for hyperbole was needed." www.science.org/content/blog...
Can ChatGPT help science writers?

A hand with a magnifying glass focuses on a chart with a rising trend line and bars. Text reads, "New tool detects problematic trials before they distort evidence." The background features torn grid paper and abstract shapes, with a scientific and investigative theme.

Here's a scary example. Run the following in OpenAlex API where publisher is Elsevier AND has abstract AND excludes open access papers. api.openalex.org/works?filter...
You get ZERO! If you include OA you get about 20%+ . This figure was >75% when Bianca was doing her analysis in late 2024! (6)

“Kennedy would be less hazardous if he decided to do cardiac surgery. Then he would kill people only one at a time rather than his current ability to kill by the thousands. Why is it that killing a single person is seen as murder but killing masses is excused if you are a politician?”

U.S. taxpayers have spent $24 billion on Netanyahu's horrific war in Gaza. Instead of starving children, that money could pay for:

700,000 public housing units
500,000 low-income kids receiving health care
500,000 veterans receiving VA care
600,000 kids in Head Start

Combined.

This is very alarming

Canada’s public health agency has recorded about 4,200 measles cases this year, more than three times as many as the 1,300 cases recorded in the United States

Have faculty, librarians, staff, and others had success using tools to generate these things? Sure. Have they created prompts that ensure every output is accurate? Impossible. Have they relied on their non-AI-generated expertise as educators to know that the output was actually useful? Every time.

I need some help...

Here is the ghost bike sign I made for Gerardo Marciales Campos in Chicago. The problem is I live in Central Virginia and it is a relatively long trek to get there and back.

I'd like to find someone in the Chicago biking community who can put up the sign.

DM if you can help...
