This reminds me of my mother buying ‘lights’ for our labrador. At some point I learnt that they were lungs, and assumed that they were called lights because they were full of air. Was I right?
David Blunkett on Radio 4 Today programme saying "if you don't know what bread and dripping is, you don't know about what poverty is" takes me back ~60 years to what was my favourite food (had to be white bread ..), and to remember tripe and onions, heart, offal in general, and other delights

Between Kant and @srdfrench.bsky.social – could do a lot worse!
Another five because it was completely arbitrary for me to stop here and pick these five:

1b. Kant - Kritik der reinen Vernunft (Critique of Pure Reason)
2b. Price - Naturalism Without Mirrors @huwprice.bsky.social
3b. French - The Structure of the World @srdfrench.bsky.social
....
Philo - Five other stuff/theoretical philosophy books

1. Lucretius - De rerum natura
2. Hume - Treatise of Human Nature
3. Mercier and Sperber - The Enigma of Reason
4. Ladyman and Ross - Every Thing Must Go
5. Weyl - Philosophy of Mathematics and Natural Science

Thank you, do you know this one? Thirty years downstream, and with a genuine decision theorist as co-author.

When I saw it I thought of you!

Thanks! I’ll DM you an email address.

Is there a text for this somewhere?
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

I wonder if anyone will spot the cat puns in the story too.

“It’s troubling to think that the deep structure of quantum mechanics violates such a foundational principle of relativity,” argues Emily Adlam. | https://bit.ly/423GMiQ

How can we solve this? Adlam argues that the idea the future can affect the past is the key to this quantum enigma.

Awesome conversation between Brian Greene and Alain Aspect on the history and significance of quantum mechanics 😍

Alain Aspect recounts his love-at-first-sight with quantum mechanics (QM) after reading John Bell's four-page article.

Very nice!

That’s even more!

It would still have been a lot, even if you hadn’t thought about it.
Today in #PhilosophyOfCosmology we finished up the intro to QM. We talked about Hilbert space as a vector space, quantum states as superpositions of measurement outcomes, spin, entanglement, and the EPR puzzle. That's a lot, now that I think about it.
