“Speaker Johnson, many Americans are wondering why you’re unable to see or hear any developments in the news. Some are speculating that you were kicked in the head by a horse; others theorize that you’ve been huffing spray paint. Which is it?”

Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during today's second oral arguments has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. He is so eager to kill a service member's lawsuit against a negligent government contractor that he keeps interrupting other justices, raising his voice, and getting emotional. Weird and erratic.

In addition to the fact that Cuomo is a creep, he devised a system to keep Republicans in control of the NYS legislature for years. He constantly fucked over New York City as governor, even though we are 45% of the state’s population, because he was so preoccupied with upstate conservatives.

They only have time and resources for threats.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Also, people who aren't used to calling out Islamophobia need to get comfortable reiterating this basic point: Islamophobia more or less DICTATES that the primary frame being used to talk about Mamdani is "fear"
Yes. You START by understanding this.

On Day One of the Mamdani administration it will suddenly “turn out” that crime is out of control, city agencies lack faith in their inexperienced leader, and the state is ill-disposed to help him keep his promises.

These narratives are pre-baked; disregard!
This is also how they’ll cover him if he wins. Mamdani - all democrats who actually want to govern and fix things - need to understand the NYT politics team as a partisan force arrayed against them.

Something that jumped out to me about ProPublica's exposé on Paul Newby, chief justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, was not just the extremes Republicans go to in order to capture the courts but the extremes to *keep the media from talking about it!*

Republicans Really Don’t Want Journalists Talking About How They’ve Captured the Courts
Conservative judges love talking to friendly media outlets. They don’t like talking to anyone who might actually try and hold them accountable.

This may have somewhat tracked at one time, but that was a very long time ago. What's a "real" newspaper now? One owned by a hedgefund that mostly publishes wire content and op-eds? One that rewrites press releases from officials? One that won't write about certain things the ownership doesn't want?
I feel one million years old here, but we do actually have a pretty reliable way of knowing what news is true. Did a real newspaper publish it? Then probably yes. Can’t find it in a real newspaper? Maybe not.
A large majority of U.S. adults now get news digitally, but nondigital news consumers are less likely to say they extremely often or often encounter inaccurate news.

Some people waited in line up for 14 hours to receive a food box from a church giveaway.

500 people volunteered to help and they still ran out of food.

Remember for every one person a food bank feeds, SNAP feeds 9.

By turning off food assistance the regime is starving Americans.

I'm not a Christian, and haven't been one for a long time, but i've always found these words and what they're supposed to mean to be the fundamental core of Christianity, even over and above the Sermon on the Mount, and I truly don't understand people who miss this.

Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.

Between this and the terrorism against Latinos who are mainly Catholic, the US has become the leading persecutor of Christians.

Nigerian here! The only thing worse than the current political strife in Nigeria is the idea of DJT trying to fix it. Counter-terrorism operations by the U.S. more often than not just decimate the nations they were trying to help.
yeah, the idea that Trump will stop Boko Haram types by ending aid to the Nigerian federal government is as confused as the idea that he is actually interested in the welfare of the same Nigerian Christians he put on a categorical travel ban 5 years ago

I can’t wait for the ADL to declare that Satmar Hasids are confused & don’t understand their Jewish identity.

But on a serious note: a significant number of Hasidic Jews are anti-Zionist and want a holy land where Jews Christians and Muslims live side by side in peace. And look who they chose.

Mamdani is expected to meet with Satmar leaders in Williamsburg this afternoon.
