This anti-primary culture in the Democratic Party needs to end.

It’s not “drama” or hate, it’s democracy.

Embrace it, make politicians earn your vote, be critical of them, and take note of how they respond.

If they’re dismissive when they need your vote, that says a lot.

NEW: A major shift in underway in recent months kicked into gear this week, with ICE trial attorneys around the country asking immigration "judges" to toss out *nearly all* asylum applications on the grounds of "safe third country" agreements with Uganda, Honduras, Ecuador, and Guatemala.

the articles of impeachment can literally be "Donald J. Trump is hereby impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors" then take a vote. There is literally no Constitutional requirement for any of the procedures he claims are required.

Aside from how he's wrong right now on the history, process, strategy, and merits, this is Jeffries heavily signaling that even when they're in the majority, he'll oppose any impeachment that doesn't first get slow-walked in needless committee dithering for as long as he can delay it there.
Significant statement from Jeffries and House Democratic leaders saying they will vote “present” on the motion to table Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump. They say they’re “laser-focused on fighting to lower the high cost of living” plus on health care and corruption.

I am dead serious when I say that if one of the most vulnerable people in the country can do this with the right allies, no fight in American politics is completely hopeless.

100% agree. Ironically, this is the only version of "broken windows" that actually makes any sense, because it has to do with the individual behavior of one person going from getting away with small crimes to getting away with big crimes, instead of being some vague theory about general contagion.
My hottest take is that letting cops park in red zones for mundane errands and coffee breaks; I think “you can break the law at your discretion as a job perk” is the small domino that ends in the large domino of “shooting protesters in the face with rubber bullets”
It must be wild to get to abuse the public then pay for it with the public's money

Remember this as a bipartisan coalition of folks in Congress tell us over and over again that they're trying to protect children online. Meanwhile the US embassy is saying even kids can't have private social media accounts if they want to visit the US.
One under-appreciated part of this: note the bit below about “and their dependents.”

Under the Trump admin’s new policy, dependent children of visa applicants are not allowed to have their social media set to private during the entire visa process. They MUST make their social media public.
From the US Embassy in London today.

Sometimes I think white peoples obsession with rewhitening media is a form of self-soothing, like sucking your thumb. if all the lantern jawed manly white men and submissive blonde thin women return, things will be okay again and the world won’t be so scary again.
Sometimes it’s just racism.
Hiring a Black woman: “identity politics”

Hiring a white guy for a job that has been held disproportionately by white guys, because he is a white guy: “subverting” identity politics!

(The author of this sentence is Dylan Byers; you will not be surprised to learn that he is a white guy.)

More research showing a thing the GC movement wishes to deny trans people, in this case respecting their name and pronouns, is a thing that improves mental health and could prevent a death by suicide, yet still they persist.
“Transgender and nonbinary youth (ages 13 to 24) whose pronouns are respected were 31 percent less likely to attempt suicide in the past year than those whose pronouns are not respected, according to a new report from The Trevor Project”

Importantly, this wouldn't have passed without Dem support. There was enough of a split within Republican ranks that if Dems had voted against the bill it would've been doa. Giving Trump a blank check to warmonger *and* passing an anti-trans measure was a choice.
115 Democrats just voted to codify the first federal trans segregation law.

Democrats would be crazy not to make this comment super-famous tomorrow when the Senate debates health care. Republicans don’t want you to be cared for as a patient when you’re sick. They think of you as a “consumer”—and tough luck if you don’t have the money for the care you need.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

👇🎯 Again, a system of government in which the only way in real time to remove a lawless authoritarian executive is an extraordinary mechanism, requiring huge supermajorities, that has never been successfully used, & everyone rules out ex ante as poison, is not actually a functioning democracy.
There's a Hill bubble narrative, posing as savvy realism, in treating impeachment as some radioactive poison and so Democrats must squash any talk of it. But there's zero evidence for that. No polls back it up, nor recent history. It's all just pundit-brained conventional wisdom eating its own tail.

Roosevelt really fucked up by basically giving no plans for future foreign policy despite knowing he was dying (also wayyyy to credulous of Stalin)
the US letting the communists carry the banner of decolonization is maybe *the* geopolitical own goal of the cold war
Vietnam? yeah, totally. we dropped a bunch of bombs, killed a bunch of people, and it was totally pointless because we ended up allied with the government of communist Vietnam in the long term because Vietnam's biggest problem is always China

You may realize that nightmarish visa requirements are bad for US tourism …

… but you may not realize that most visa policies are reciprocal.

The harder for foreigners to visit America, the harder for Americans to visit other countries.

This doubles as a trap that prevents Americans from leaving.
