...two people just showed up and started a conversation in my head. not in a "please get me psychiatric help" way but in a writer way. which means i now get to treat them like a mystery to solve (who are they? what did she mean by that? where's this mountain? etc) until it yields a story idea. yay!

…the VA emails trying to pump up all the good they’re doing is a smokescreen.

They do not care about us veterans when they are doing things like this:
This major change was only made public two days ago, and will go into effect immediately tomorrow, bypassing the notice and comment period, through an entirely spurious and fabricated line of reasoning.

The rule is a significant, and cowardly, attack on veterans benefits by the administration.
Evaluative Rating: Impact of Medication

If anyone asks you who won the Crimean War the answer is indisputably “cholera”

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean... (scroll to “Casualties and Losses”)
A major cause of death in pretty much every pre-20th century war (especially siege based ones) was highly curable bacterial diseases ripping through people in close proximity to each other, as opposed to actual violence.
Yes. Our current form of living, highly concentrated urban with constant global mobility, only can happen because of vaccines, antibiotics, running water, and public health efforts like meat inspection. Without all of these, we die and it ends.

The wild false equivalences are so ridiculous.

Yes, some hotels require one of the adults in a room to show ID when using a credit card so that if you trash the place or if you have stolen a credit card, they've covered their ass. But Holiday Inn isn't the government trying to control voters.
Sen. Eric Schmitt on voter ID: "Think about it -- you have to show a photo ID or your driver's license to check into a hotel room, right? This is common sense."

Calling it now: the US political media's treatment of AOC is going to make their treatment of Hillary Clinton or Al Gore look like a model of balance and discretion.
Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

As an attorney with occasional experience with the Equal Time rule, I can explain what's going on here and how the FCC's Brandon Carr is leveraging his position to force late night and daytime talk show hosts to exclude Democratic candidates.

First I need to explain the Equal Time rule itself. 1/
Stephen Colbert said that the FCC and CBS - which is in no way a compromised or complicit organization - wouldn’t allow him to broadcast an interview with Democratic State Rep James Talarico. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/a...

I remember long ago when this was mentioned on the other site. I decided to test it by never stepping aside. I quit because I got sick of annoyed men running into me and getting pissed. It was 100% of the time.
it sucks how many men will just make zero effort to move out of someone’s way walking down the street but it is very funny to see two such men collide with one another

No, bitch.

Worrying about kids playing a ttrpg with orcs and elves or listening to metal (or hip hop) is moral panic

Raping stolen children is a moral evil.

And it is literally only my long-held beliefs against the death penalty keeping me from burning every one of you at the stake.

We are here to call people to account for what they do and say. That is what matters.

We are here to fight for the dignity of every single human being.

Pursue justice justly.

We live in an autocratic oligarchic hellhole.

The Pentagon is basically saying that if Anthropic doesn't drop its demands over restricting the use of AI in autonomous drone targeting and surveillance of Americans, it will essentially destroy the company.
Exclusive: Pentagon warns Anthropic will "pay a price" as feud escalates
The Pentagon may label Anthropic a "supply chain risk," forcing all its vendors to sever ties.

when your family reads in the genre you write, so you spend some time thinking about what warnings to give them for each book

(my dad will be glad the latest doesn't need a swear count. these warnings started with Peace Fire when he said, "i'm fine as long as there aren't many f-bombs." 😂🤐💣)
