The GOP, much like the DNC ten years ago, has greatly overestimated the left’s opinion and love for the Clintons.

“Bill is in the files!”

Yeah, we know. We’re completely aware. Throw him on the fuckin fire too. We’re fine with that. Just right there on the flames. Now, about those redacted areas…

if you don't have the stomach to look at the epstein files, even in their heavily censored state, i don't blame you.

basically it's just hundreds of images like this:

What I think about every time the 'let the NHS kill people' bill comes up.
At the end of this month I will have been on the GIC waiting list for three years without so much as an acknowledgement (I know they have received my referral though; I've seen the letters).

I am sure if this gets through I could get euthanised much faster.

And therein lays the problem.

Trump Drags Out His Epstein Files Cover-Up

America is a culture of child abuse. Ask any survivor - we find one another, we form networks and communities.

The true scale of it would stagger and sicken you, and so it is buried, it is swept under the rug, it is denied and the survivors are silenced by whatever means are necessary.
Government of pedophiles. They're all tainted with this for the rest of their lives.

I don't honestly think the UK is any different, except it's not so intimately associated with being rich. I grew up in a culture that found the idea of fucking underage girls hilarious and normal.

And the British press has been a big part of it.

Heyyy I just wrote a whole paper about the difference UNCRC makes in library policies between the US and the UK. Hint: it seems small but it’s actually monumental, and it prevents so many of the heartaches I saw in the US.
I would encourage people to petition for the USA to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

AND for Canada to promote it more.

In it, the convention highlights very strongly that children have multiple individual rights and parents have responsibilities.
Yep. As soon as we reach a critical mass of adults believing with their whole selves that children are people, we're going to have to change everything, and lots of people would rather have property than harmony.

This is your occasional reminder that telling people “no, fuck off” (in @angryblacklady.blacksky.app parlance) can be an edifying spiritual practice in an appropriate context

An alternative interpretation of that phrase can be “bless your heart”
Like we literally do not have to take these fucking jagoffs or their thought experiments seriously. And when you tell them they’re full of shit they can’t function because they’ve only ever been told they’re exceptional

You don't need to take my word for this. You can just read what Lord Hodge - the judge of the Supreme Court who presided over the case said himself, IN AN INTERVIEW WITH THE TIMES. He could hardly be clearer that the case was not about single sex spaces.

I know I’m being idealistic in even calling this out but a media darling is a much higher safety risk to everyone than a trans person.

In absolute terms and per capita.

The media darlings and celebrities think they can get away with anything whereas trans people?

Live in the real world.

sex crimes actually being committed are of less importance to the press than the hypothetical sex crimes that might potentially occur if we afforded rights and respect to trans people, even though there's no evidence whatsoever to think that anything bad would occur at all.
The British Press caring so much for “women and girls” that they’ve covered up abuse by a yet another sex pest for decades…

…to make space for their transphobic moral panic

This is actually very worthy of panic.
Worth reading this very carefully—not to spread panic, but to understand how civil rights are being threatened in specific ways by the use of new “indicators,” and of course all coming from an agency now run by conspiracy theorists

You might ask: what will it take, for our ruling class to finally come clean about what they have done, and at long last stop? And the answer at this point is: not fascism, and also not genocide.

What lesson should we learn, from absolutely brazen hateful fascists being tolerated within mainstream politics, and a relentless war to the death against anyone who suggests reversing any part of the Thatcherite project? What does that tell you about the people at the top of this system.

We ran into these issues during the MOOC days and ended up just sort of giving up on enforcement because of this boondoggle. I sincerely hope that every professor sues their outgoing institutions on these very grounds. May the legal morass bog us down for a generation.
If syllabi are UNC IP, does this mean that a faculty member who leaves Chapel Hill for another university would be barred from teaching the same or a similar course at the new institution?

That's the key difference between MAGA and everyone else, especially Democrats. To MAGA, some people are too important/beloved/conservative to be mad at. No matter what they do, it doesn't matter, because they "like" them.
