At a minimum, a Democratic President and Congress, when re-creating these indpendent agencies that Trump is gutting, or repairing other damage he's done - all with the consent/concurrence of the SCOTUS majority, must write the legislation to include sections removing SCOTUS appellate jurisdiction.

One theory I have is that competence, self-control, responsibility, and expertise have all been feminized, leaving “masculinity” with the realm of impulsivity and petulance. So the divide is not really between “femininity” and “masculinity” so much as between adulthood and childishness.
Everything else aside, the idea that this is a model for many men of *masculinity* is so wild. This? This is "manly"? This is how people think it's cool to act?

this is sort of what I imagine The Republic being, a kind of militant and small c conservative institutionalist liberalism that places a very high emphasis on civic virtue/duty. a functioning society that has arisen from the ashes to be a regional power, but also has some not so nice aspects as well

I think that the longstanding trauma of this moment is going to be that many people in their 20-30s rn in not-quite-elite circles are going to be intensely small c conservative for a long time and have something of a hair-trigger for anything that smells of populism for the rest of their days
