If every website removed their paywall for a week, you'd see how much of what's in the Epstein files was covered in real time. And you'd remember what actually happened in the first Trump term and how everything he's doing now was announced then. Paywalls are a massive self-inflicted wound.

We live in truly extraordinary times. A Republican president has totally abdicated on <checks notes> free trade, NATO, & the right to keep & bear arms. The corruption & lawlessness are not the only unprecedented things.
Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident."

What about the future: expect a MAJOR push from the executive, DOJ, FBI to attempt to ban the recording of ICE.

We’ve seen this act before.

The Democratic Party needs new leadership. Jeffries and Schumer are not up to the challenge.

They’re too afraid, bought, weak, whatever. It doesn’t matter why at this point.

It just matters that they aren’t the people for this moment and need to get out of the way.
NEWS: While Hakeem Jeffries has announced he's opposing the DHS/ICE funding bill tomorrow, his team is not whipping the vote. Several frontliners are expected to vote yes. There's a difference in leadership between personal vote decisions & unifying the caucus.
From me:

Jeffries Won’t Whip Vote Against ICE Funding - The American Prospect
While the House Democratic leader announced personal opposition to a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, he won’t pressure his colleagues to do the same.

even moderate members of congress are finally realizing that the BS they've been sold about centrism from the democratic consultant industrial complex fails to account for uncertainty or shifting public opinion, and thus has zero external validity here in the real world. let me just say: welcome!

We could feed and educate our kids, house our neighbors, live longer, fuller, healthier lives, have time and space to create and rest and dream.

It should be this way and it can be this way, but we have to beat the fascists by demanding something better than our old, wretched status quo.

Everyone else should resign and rebuild the party starting with her.
AOC: I want everybody to understand that the cuts to your health care are what’s paying for this. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face.

💯
Anyone with cursory knowledge of the rise of fascism should not only see America's present trajectory, but also recognize how badly opposition party leaders are underreacting to the threat.

There are zero Democrats overreacting.
They are trying to outlaw dissent as we celebrate our 250th anniversary standing up to tyrants.

I'm just taking your lunch money to make sure it is spent wisely.
Chris Wright: "We are just controlling the flow of funds into Venezuela so those funds can be used to better the conditions of the Venezuelan people and reduce the risks to the American people of the giant criminal activity coming out of that country. We're not stealing anyone's oil."

So the US taxpayer will spend billions of dollars to make the Venezuelan regime even more repressive so that it can protect American oil companies who won’t actually do anything except themselves receive billions more dollars of taxpayer subsidies. MAGA

in one sense the dem party establishment is very successful because their job is to pretend that lazy corporatism is the same thing as a functioning democracy

got away with it for many years too, until all the structural supports began to buckle from generations of corruption
One must understand that the supine spineless of the Democratic Party is extremely profitable for the very rich. We would not have wages so low that most Americans are effectively in poverty if we had an effective left-wing party, and the very wealthy would have to pay for that. They prefer fascism.
it's so weird that there are still people who defend chuck schumer on here

so many "we don't have any power, what do you expect him to do" and "we've tried absolutely nothing strategically unique and are all out of ideas" type of folks who seem extremely happy to wallow in powerlessness

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, could you please establish an official NYC Mayor account on Bluesky and post everything your office is currently posting on X over here?

And please remove all city accounts from X, which has become a CSAM creation and distribution site?

No money for Musk, ever, please.

Carrying the water for billionaires should be disqualifying for Dem candidates whose attention should be directed at the rest of the population of the US and not 1100 people with vastly more wealth than they could ever spend. Sorry, Gavin, that’s old think pandering to donors.
Gov. @gavinnewsom says he disagrees with Mayor @zohrankmamdani about the need for a wealth tax on billionaires, which he is “adamantly against” - says Dems are a “big tent party” with both views.

This is an important must read. I only wish more vectors of toxic Christianity such as the Federalist Society, Opus Dei, John Eastman, Leonard Leo, Russel Vought, Tom Homan, Caroline Leavitt, and the pestilent Christofascists on SCOTUS were among those named. Thanks and please continue this work!

Trump’s “healthcare” plan will bankrupt and kill millions of Americans.

We can eliminate the private insurance industry, and save $650B per year with Medicare for All — which would cover everyone, save families money, and include dental, vision, hearing, prescriptions and longterm care.
