Yesterday I finally watched Shin Godzilla with my parents (because @legalizegoblins.bsky.social wouldn't stop recommending it) and 30 minutes in, my dad was like "It looks exactly like The West Wing." And now I can't unsee it. 10/10 Godzilla movie.

Now there's a firmly entrenched, massive ecosystem of surveillance that literally did not exist in 1973 and has gotten even more powerful within only the last 5 years.

I don’t have the answers, but I do believe it starts with listening.

It starts with believing disabled people who say there’s a serious problem here which must be addressed.

We can’t let Glen Beck and the right drive this conversation.

We deserve better.

Disabled voices are not listened to on this issue.

Whenever I speak out about it I’m told that I want people to suffer.

I’m told that someone’s terminally ill loved one used MAiD and it was a blessing.

I’m told that I’m wrong and there is no coercion.

I’m talked over.

We need to have some uncomfortable conversations about Assisted Dying programs and how they are rooted in eugenics.

We need to be willing to admit that disabled lives are not valued, and as a result many are coerced into dying who very much want to live.

That’s not bodily autonomy, it’s ableism

I fully support the right to die, but it needs to go hand in hand with the right to life

No one should be offered death in lieu of treatment

You shouldn’t be able to access MAiD in 3 months when it takes over a year to see a specialist

You shouldn’t be told to “consider dying” when you want help

Disabled people do not owe you their medical history or an explanation as to why they receive certain benefits

The idea that people must humiliate themselves for a meagre benefit that forces them into legislative poverty is another part of eugenics

We deserve a living wage.

We are not expendable.

Tomorrow, a House Energy & Commerce subcommittee is voting on passing KOSA & several other age verification bills.

We need to spread mass opposition now. We cannot allow this to pass. We have to drive mass calls into congress NOW

Seems not to be the final vote, more a checkpoint. But call anyways. You will receive a call that upon answering, routes you to representatives. Doesn't take long. The people on the other end of the line are patient, and worst case, you leave a message
TOMORROW: Congress is pushing through a package of bills which include an online ID check mandate that would fence off the internet & kill anonymity online.

I sort of wish y'all took this more seriously, because this attitude is a reinforcement of heterosexuality as a hierarchy. It's an acknowledgement and understanding that it's not enough to "be with" a woman, or even to father children.

They define manhood as exploitation, abuse, and dominance.

Alan Moore really was 110% right when he said you need to read bad books as well as good if you want to write better. I have become far more invested in the material lives of my characters after some of the bourgeoise bullshit I read this year.
