Big name journalists treat scoops like they’re fuckin Rod Blagojevich now (I got this thing and it’s fuckin golden) and it’s completely rewarded and incentivized. Nuzzi and Lizza both are are just doing a particularly trashy version of this commonplace thing.
something i'll note is that if nuzzi ran catch-and-kill ops for rfk jr and lizza knew this prior to him being appointed as HHS, and instead of telling anyone, he decided to save it for his substack long after rfk jr had made communicable disease into federal policy, that's completely fucked

i wonder what $17M comes to divided by the number of state legislative seats this person imagines could be meaningfully affected 🤔
gosh maybe that money would have been better spent on state legislature seats literally everywhere else for example but yeah dude go off about sound political spending

this dilettante observer of politics, who really should stick to sports, thinks he knows what races are *winnable* with a few extra dollars
last time shawn harris raised $3.5 million and lost by 30 points. The time before that, marcus flowers raised $17 million and lost by 30 points. stop spending money on unwinnable races
are you sure you're not thinking of Amy McGrath, your politics are pretty confused & naive 🤷

I've been bitching about these entitled and politically naïve fuckers since November. They threw our Democracy under the bus because Kamala wasn't the *perfect candidate to address their every pet issue.

Seeing a lot of folks who either don’t know what the usual numbers look like or who didn’t go look at the demographics and methodology and are treating this as a _meh_ data point when anything close to this would be earth-shaking. Believe it when you see it, etc, but these are GOP extinction numbers
Generic Ballot Polling Among White Voters:

🔵 Democrats: 50%
🔴 Republicans: 46%

Look if people are too stupid to understand the difference between whether a person with good values vs a person with bad values is in charge, then you probably can ignore their opinions on other matters

i mean i might have gotten it from Ron White, but every single work *acquaintance* at every job for 20 years has heard me say you'll know when i hit the Mega/Powerball because you'll never see my ass again
If you gave me just the $9 million buyout, he got from Penn State with minimum negotiation you could not find me, I would be on the back of a yak in Kyrgyzstan drinking tea with a guide named Bulvan as he taught my kids about falconry

i always *think of it 1st* as a Meat Loaf song, even though i know it's Celine. Steinman will do that to you
Colleague on Zoom: It’s all coming back to me now. Isn’t that a Meat Loaf song?

Me: Actually it’s a Celine Dion song, written by Jim Steinman, who wrote most of Meat Loaf’s songs. Meat Loaf heard that one and begged to sing it but Steinman insisted it was for a woman. Steinman also wrote for Air Su

I hate this sort of meme.

“The only difference between the parties is whether the power to destroy human civilization rests in the hands of leaders who think gays, women, and black people should have their rights acknowledged.”

Even if true, how is Rainbow B-52 not infinitely preferable?

OP: of the two choices in political parties we have, the one that commits less violence than the other is preferable, even if it's still not great.

this is the thing: it's one thing for any major pro sport team to get less attention than another one they share a market with, that is exceedingly common. i can't think of another one that gets less than a *college* team in their market
Like, two actually memorable moments on the ice. Small market that is dominated by another entity (Ohio State). Not part of the coastal media borg. Plays the least relevant major sport in the US. Not terrible enough to become a meme.

If I didn't grow up there, I wouldn't think about 'em either!

I mean...that's probably true?

The modern US government, under anyone in the past 20 years except the Trump 2.0 kleptokakistocrats, in an actual existential crisis, could in all likelihood turn couch potatoes into competent frontline combat troops in 2 years tops.
As I’ve said in the past people have always complained that draftees were weak and unfit for the physical demands of combat.

It’s just now we can FIX it with nutrition and exercise and medicine in ways the draft boards of WWII couldn’t.

i still visit the small NW OH town my mom lives in, my whole family grew up in, where i graduated from HS, & those people have been laughing at me for being a Clinton/Obama/Clinton/Biden supporter, forever. they are, indeed, impossible to *get to*
Talked to a small business owner in PA just before the election in '24. "Oh, he's not going to do tariffs," she said.
He did it the last time, I said.
"I don't remember that."
You own a small business and you don't remember tariffs?
"Oh, Tom, you're funny."

It's impossible to get through.
Farmers in the Midwest kept their hands on the stove in 2024, even tho they had to be bailed out by subsidies in the First Reign of Terror.
And once again, he sold them out again with the tariffs.
Surprise! Surprise!
