Tank Girl was already taken on the usenet forums I was on in the early-mid 90's, Jet Girl didn't resonate (from the comics, not the movie) tankgirl.fandom.com/wiki/Sub_Gir...

Inkygeek is pretty self explanatory.

Most chronically ill people were once healthy too.

Also what Imani Barbarin says: the second you become disabled you cease to be seen as a reliable interpreter of your own life. People will stop believing you. Doctors, but also most other people.

Wear a fucking mask! 😷

My ko-fi goal is no longer relevant. I'm going to have to figure some things out.

The plumber believes that there was no avoiding it. It's only surprising it hadn't happened yet. He suggested a re-pipe. Imma get more opinions. But please, if you can help, I'll need some.

Back at the cancer centre for my haematology appt. Mask (surgical) count is marginally higher than last time.

The young security guard who has to check my glasses case complimented & asked about my @uboatheflesh.bsky.social shirt. I’m super curious what he thinks (he’s into punk & metal, but…)

Begging you not to let Wael’s Tarabishi’s story get lost amidst all the horrors.

He was a 30 year old disabled man. His dad was his full time caregiver.

ICE took his dad away.

Wael said it would kill him. He said the fear was “real & immediate”.

He died last week. ICE killed Wael.

alt text is important for accessibility and my plea for people who don't personally need it - aside from it being the right thing to do - is, well, you'd actually benefit from it more than you think

how many times have you seen someone quote something with a character you don't recognize? alt text!
Folks I know it takes a little extra time and there's a lot going on, but please try to use alt text. It's hard if you're otg but otherwise just do it.

It's not just about your one post, it's about creating and sustaining a culture of accessibility.

We're sort of back to the Inkventpocalypse posts. I had a lot to say, I guess. It's a little less in-depth than my previous posts, but far more rambly. You'll see. Inks, watercolour, tea. Pondering February daily practices.

I’m watching friends succumb to doom watching what’s happening in Minnesota and I want to shake them and scream “Can’t you see the people organizing? Can’t you see them winning?”. Doom is a warm blanket of helplessness that keeps you from the fight.
doom is cope, everybody's saying it
Please don’t approvingly share absolute horseshit like this written by someone who is deeply miserable and wants you to be miserable too.

Pro tip: If you are attending a rally or action, wear a N95 mask & bring extras to give to others.

High quality masks can serve triple-duty: they prevent you and others from getting sick from airborne viruses, they keep your face warm in the freezing cold, & they can protect against surveillance.

This is so, so terrible. Say bye-bye to global emergency cooperation strategies with the US. We've got H5N1, measles, and Covid going hogwild, unprevented, and unsurveilled in the US with its population facing an unprecedented lack of vaccine access and DOA public health comms. Pandemic powder keg.
The United States has officially withdrawn from the WHO, one year after signalling its intent to leave. The US previously funded about 20% of the WHO budget but has not paid dues for 2024 or 2025, leaving a $278 million debt. WHO says withdrawal isn’t complete until debts are paid.
